You can enroll in BOTH Social Security & Medicare at the same time in your My Social Security online account. We show you how in this video tutorial.

Starting in January 2025, the option to just "walk-in" and turn in Form 40B and Form L564 to your local SSA office is no longer available...unless it's a DIRE need situation.

Your video was spot on and very helpful on those couple of poorly worded questions. Thank you. I have shared this video and a few others with friends and family. Thanks again.

For those that haven’t been paying attention, the SSA has slowed down to a crawl processing applications. It is in protest of the new administration. They were really slow before, but now it is close to stopped. This is all with the support of lower management.

Very helpful. I couldn’t find any other information on the specifics on the application 😊 TY

How do you deal with the "Are you covered under a group health plan through your own current employment?" if you are already retired with a plan that is provided by your employee as part of your retirement.

I'm planning to apply for both Social security and medicare next month. I turn 65 in July which is when I want both benefits to start. I did not see a place to choose a start date for medicare. Will they just assume it's the month I turn 65 which is July?. Also, I am covered under group health insurance through my employer. I plan to file a life changing event so it will stop June 30th and medicare can start July 1st. How does medicate know that I have stopped my group health insurance? Do they need to know? Should I leave a note in the comment section? Thanks for any info.

Thanks much very informational/helpful. QQ: i have just turned 65 last week & being proactive looking into enrolling on both online same time. On the starting date question will enter 6/1/25 as effective date. I'd need benefits to start on both SS & Part B 6/1 as I'm still working through 5/31. Will the system take or apply on both as eff 6/1? Or, will it throw Medicare to start me 4/1 since applying online March? Just need to double check/clarify or any advise is appreciated. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.

❓ can I have a mailing address and a house address? Which do I use for this account? My driver's license has residence, not mailing address.

Excellent information but I would like to find a video that shows how to enroll in social security online for those who already enrolled in Medicare parts A and B online previously.

Kind of stuck on the 'what dates should benefits start date' at 10:22. I am 67 years and 7 months currently and would like to receive social security benefits in April 2025 but plan on keep on working until August or September of 2025. Do I check the 'other reason' box?

Great video! Question: I turn 65 in August 2025 and need part A & B so my Tricare will stay/convert to Tricare for life with no gap. I'd rather not have my social security start until October because I retire (federal employee) end of September 2025. Is that doable?

I am on Retiree Health Plan. I turn 65 this year. Do I say I am covered by a group plan? I have retired and do not work.

Question ❓ I've applied for Medicare part A....must I wait for my Medicaid card and number prior to anything else?

Once you submit your application in your example video, you see a "what to do next" section. I got that after helping my dad with his application and there are several documents. Can you go over this part? Is this necessary? My dad was married in korea and we'll most likely have to obtain a translated certified version of his marriage certificate if so. Please help us out, thanks!

Hey great video, .and thank you so much for sharing this information, .but I do have a question?..I’m actually 51 years old and need to apply for SSI, ..I’ve worked my whole life but recently have come to terms with health issues that limit my physical capabilities, .a video made like that would not only help me but a lot of other american citizens that truly need the help in these times and find themselves in the same situation just like me with very little insight or knowledge on how to even start the process, just a thought and thank you again for such a great step by step tutorial on how to apply or set up an account.
