I really appreciated this video. I watched it hoping my account creation would go smoothly but for whatever reason it didn't. It completely skipped over the activation code part about asking how I wanted it sent. It went right to the activation code page and asked if I received a code. Of course I didn't because it didn't ask how I wanted it sent. It then said it was mailing it to me, so hopefully I receive it. My husband and I have been trying to secure all accounts in relation to our identity since my husband has recently been a victim of identity theft. I sure hope someone hasn't created something already somehow since it skipped right over the one step.

Thanks for this Video. I am turning 65 in July, and I have put off making a social security account because of fear of being blocked out while trying to sign up. I talked to so many that got shut down while in the process of creating a social security account. I hope now I can move forward without fear. After this I need to make my Medicare account abcd, lmnop before I lose my health insurance at work in July. Why do they make the process of getting old so complicated?

This video needs to be updated. Social Security requires 2 methods for Authentication. A text message isn't enough. I tried unsuccessfully yesterday (March 1, 2023) to understand and use OTP Manager. I used the link on the SS application to get the OTP Manager. I'm using my iMac desktop not my iPhone. The SS application has a QR to scan or a string of numbers to put on the OTP manager "popup." I typed the numbers from SS, 3x different times in the 3 blank bars available on the OTP Manager and nothing happened. I then tried using my iPhone and the SS system said my email or PW were incorrect. They are correct. Then I made more unsuccessful efforts with my iMac & my iPhone. Now I'm reading online about how to use 2-step and watching youtube videos. SS should not assume that your applicants have familiarity with 2-step authentication apps, the terms they use or that it's easy to figure out. Today I'll probably have to call Social Security for help.

Can you go back add extra layers of security such as a drivers license later in the proces?. I skipped this step and now I cannot figure out how to get back there.

I am retired and collecting SS. I enrolled on Part A only on 65th birthday (3/2020) and have been on my wife's insurance (company over 20 employees) for about 8 years. I now wany to enroll and Part B and buy Parts D and G. When is the enrollment period using the SEP rule? I would like to start the full Medicare program within the next 3 months if possible. I have a quick question, I am going to create an account for my mom, she is 86 years old and she is not much into computer or cell phone etc. I already created email account for her, the question is can I use my cell phone number for my mom's account since she does not have a phone? Their website is a mess & I can't get anyone on the phone. System says I already have an acct but I don't remember my username. Clicked on "Forgot username?" then it asks me for ss# bday etc, entered all of that correctly & it tells me the info is incorrect. I checked the info twice, it's perfect. Also the "Use an activation code" option isn't there like it is on your screen. Annoying!

Hi, in this video the Social Security form @5:30 there is field for US residents only, what about people who live outside of US. I created an account for Login.gov but I can not go further because I do live Europe now and have foreign address. Such problems the government causing us old people.

Can somebody answer this? On older videos to create an SSA account, the form asks for driver's license information and they also prompt you to create a username. On the newer tutorials like this one, you say the procedure is different now. They don't require a username anymore, correct? So when I log into my account, I will only enter my e-mail address or real name? What would I enter other than my password?

My wife isn't so computer literate and so I'm wondering if I can use my gmail account to create an account with SS, I also use this for my account but I created mine many years ago.

We live in the Philippines, I am getting a phone interview tomorrow so I'll just wait on that for more guidance, I sure wish there was information on those of us that retired to another country. Helpful video for sure, I didn't want to start the process without watching something on this and your video was good.
