Going on 4 months after filing retirement, and still nothing from Social Security. Apparently broke and homeless is a prerequisite for retirement through the Social Security Office!
Took less time to be drafted and go to Vietnam.

You still get five years of payout even though it’s at a lower rate. Taking it at 62

QUESTION: My BD is April 28th...My FRA is 66 and 8 months...when is the earliest I can apply? Does it have to be the day, or just the month@ 4 months in advance? Thanks in advance!

Great stocks and I just bought in on them, but I'm interested in making a short-term profit, let's say turn a $150K to $ 500K in 6 months, I'd appreciate tips on how what stocks to buy to make this much profit.

My husband signed up October 4 2023 and it is now Feb 15 2024 and he still has not heard anything.
I signed up October 5 2023 and received an answer with in 2 months. Feb 14 2024 i received my first check.
Trying to find out why he has not received and answer has been a literal pain in the ass.

So glad I'm waiting until FRA. Didn't need the money right away so I'll wait for a bigger monthly payment from them on.

Have things changed? I will turn 62 in June. I am within the 4 month window. I log in to my "mySocialSecurity" account and start the retirement application. It asks me of I'm blind, I answer "No". Then it asks me if I have been unable to work over the past 14 months due to a disability, injury or if my life may end causing me to be unable to work. I click on "No" and it won't let me continue the application. It forces me to answer "Yes" which then takes me to the next page asking questions about my disability issues that I don't have. I called Social Security and waited over an hour for someone to answer and I was told I have to be within 3 months of age 62 and that's why it forces me to the disability application because I'm not eligible yet. I know all over the internet and on the Social Security website it says "within 4 months" but something must have changed or there's some other issue and I was told incorrectly. I want to apply but I'm in a holding pattern.

Not so simple if you are an expat, I live in Thailand and have for the last 11 years or so. I am American born to Americans in Texas. The nearest office that handles SSI IS in the Philippines. I started the process last month, process is begun by email, then they say that they will set up a phone call interview, lag time between our emails is 2 to 3 weeks each. Finally got an answer 2 days ago, and was told that there are no appointment times available, and that if they don't get back to me in 60 days, that I should try again to contact them. The U.S. Embassy here doesn't handle SSI, the philippines Embassy does it for 40 plus countries in Asia. Any suggestions?

My wife and I will be purchasing a house around October - December 2023. I'm currently 69 and will turn 70 in April 2024. I am however going to take it in January 2024. I want to include my social security in my mortgage application, but they said they cannot use that in calculating what we could borrow because they want a benefit verification letter. So, I want to apply in October 2023, and then once I get the verification letter, cancel getting it until January. My SS benefit will be over $3600.00 mo and would be helpful. I am and will continue to still work. What are your thoughts on us doing it?

..and I did. Applied 3 mo before 62, started payments 2 mo after turning 62. Be aware of that. It will still take 14 years to get back just what I put in. Had I waited til 70, it would have been 6 years but id have been 2 years older. Im now not allowed to die until i reach 74 or SS full payback. LOL.

QUESTION: IF your 1st benefit moth is December 2023 (even though no payment until Jan 2024), would that month create income limitations for 2022?
