People who want to buy an affordable electric car are the losers here with all these new tariffs.

The tariffs on Chinese electric cars are a sign of weakness, the EU is in decline.

This is pure protectionism, the response?, a massive media campaign by USA EV makers after tariffs imposed and in the EU also. Governments do subsidies all over, the USA too. Now they both will be captive markets to these same makers with the only prices + dealer fees etc

The funniest thing is that even after the tariffs against Chinese EVs in the US and Europe, Chinese EVs can still get certain pricing advantage over their US and European counterparts. 😅

China should put 55% tariffs on all European and American cars.

🤪Soon Chinese parents will look at their children at dinner time and say :
"If you don't study hard, you will only be able to drive a Mercedes-Benz and a BMW in the future."

Either way EU lose, they can never win with their present situation. EU should work harder and shouldn't behave like US, because they are not US. Engage China and look for some win situation which is better than zero. EU is too expensive to produce anything even Viagra. Look, if you can't produce, just become a sole agent and make money from consumers without worry over production.

The losers are definitely the end consumer ... paying for politician's ineptness.

What brands are under LVMH?
Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Guerlain, Kenzo, Marc Jacobs, Tiffany & Co, Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Dom Pérignon, Maison Ruinart, Le Bon Marché or Séphora...

All these products if manufactured in China with the exact same materials, they will cost only one fifth of its market values to the consumers. Imagine a USD10, 000 LV handbag, consumers are paying USD8, 000 more for nothing but the brand! Slap a100% tariff on these goods and see who are the losers.

If the EU allows affordable Chinese EVs to enter the market, wouldn't that help the EU to reach their climate goals faster? Since more EU citizens can purchase an EV, and reduce their CO2 emissions. Recently, the EU passed a lot of new laws restricting the greenhouse emissions from farms, and the laws were devastating to many EU farmers. If the majority of EU citizens adopt affordable Chinese EVs, then the EU would not need those strict emissions laws for the farms, and the farmers would enjoy better lives, everyone including the environment will benefit.

Funny how the EU made sure the tariff would take affect July 1st and not immediately.

Oops, the biggest loser is indeed Tesla. Tesla's Shanghai-made EVs represents the largest export (over 150k vehicles) to EU.

The Chinese government feel painful every time a new sanction is imposed on China 🇨🇳.

Chinese 🇨🇳 Xi Jinping's *recovery* from a *broken dream of being the dominating EV player* is slow and painful.
- It takes time for him to realize that BYD and Geely will face the same fate as Evergrande and County Gardens.

Actually just for show only, not much increase on BYD EV, 10-17.4%.
The tax rate for :
BYD 17.4%
Geely’s 20%.
SAIC 38.1%. <-- NOT EV
