I think many people like IEM's because it protects their hearing and reduces on stage volume but there are alot of people that still like wedges because it's old school and like it loud. Sadly alot of musicians have lost that hearing due to it. Many concerts i've been to recently now use tower speakers which are much clearer and quieter than subwoofers and amps. Ive been to concerts and have left venues partially deaf.

Actually this Video is about two things: 1. wedges vs IEM and 2. Personal vs One Central Mixers. IEMs are there to solve to problem of excess volume in stage, and also providing on an option to communicate between all the players via microphones that only the players hear, whereas in wedges it cannot be isolated from the crowd. About the 2nd point - in the end, the purpose is to play a good music. If one member of the band will decide to hear just himself, then it obvious that good music won't be played there.

Wow. Great series. This IEM series was so helpful.

I know this video is old but I have a question:

IEM ADVICE NEEDED:

Band has been using IEMs for about a few months with our XR16 but our bass player hates them. He wants to use a wedge on stage. The rest of us want to continue to use IEMs.

1) What pitfalls (if any) will we encounter using a hybrid of wedges and IEMs as monitors?

2) What adjustments should we make on stage and in the Xair app to adjust for the addition of a wedge to our set up?

Thanks. I want our bass player to hear what he wants and how he wants, I just don’t want to compromise those of us still using IEMs.
