In today's video we are checking out an affordable wireless in ear monitor system that is on 5.8Ghz (not the dreaded 2.4Ghz). This is the NUX B7PSM portable in ear monitor system. I've been gigging with it over the weekend, and it's a great IEM system!

🔥UPDATE:🔥
So it appears that half the comments say they like the system, and half the comments are saying they are having problems with the system being distorted or too much hiss. I reached out to NUX and this was the response I got:

The NUX B-7PSM is a stereo and wireless system, which means that the raw data size is double that of a mono wireless in-ear monitoring system. To ensure a stable connection, we have to compress the raw data to some extent, which results in a loss of sound quality and causes high frequency distortion. This distortion is more noticeable when playing guitar alone and using the system for quiet practice. However, it is still great for live performances and band rehearsals where multiple instruments are mixed together, and the distortion situation is dramatically reduced.

So please keep that in mind. I used these at loud concerts, so that makes sense. I still stand by my review, and I always have these with me as a backup. Recently, we did a one-off gig in Dominican Republic with a fill-in guitar player, and he didn't know we needed ears. So I let him borrow these. I asked how they worked for him and he said they were great and he wanted to buy a pair for himself. Just wanted to let you know I'm getting mixed reviews on these, but they are working well for me.

Hey guys, thanks for watching. Here are some common questions I'm getting in the comments as well as an update!

1) Yes, it is stereo. You'll need a splitter cable to get 2 inputs from your mixer in order to use it truly in stereo, but the system IS stereo.
3) The winner of the drawing has been notified. Thanks for entering! More coming soon :)

This IS part of the risk of buying cheaper wireless stuff. It will work for some, but not for others.

As a 78 yr old gigging bassist. I can see where this would benefit me. At this stage...simple = better ! Thanks for the info!

I can't believe how many musicians are reluctant to utilize IEM systems. I personally love them!

Thanks to NUX for raising the technology bar. And to YOU for continuing to raise the knowledge bar for us. Thanks for helping me get started with MIDI, too.

As a drummer and audio engineer, I'm always interested in these kind of wireless IEM options. Have been looking into the XVive system but wasn't convinced since it's still mono. Unbelievable this is a stereo one but still has the compact design. Really appreciate your reviews Scott, very helpful!

I use Senheizer with my band and Xvive for small acoustic gigs or home practice. I'm constantly impressed with how good the less expensive options are getting.

Nux are coming up with some surprisingly good products of late. A serious competitor in guitar accessories. I could do with this system in my small home studio, giving me freedom of movement, where the clutter of cables is an ongoing battle.

I’ve been using these as well as their 5.8 ghz wireless guitar system for about 8 months now. They’ve been awesome, no drops, great range and battery life.

There are two really cool things going on here: one, NuX breaking the mold with the 5.8G at an affordable price. Two, you are reviewing these systems and sharing all your knowledge with the world. As someone who has never gigged, but is interested in transitioning my gear toward a more professional capacity, I find your videos invaluable. I never know where to begin, or even know what to try and, more valuably, what to avoid. Thanks for the help, man 👍🏼

These are even stereo?! Holy crap, we live in an age of absolute technical insanely awesome stuff!!
And time wise, we are still only at the beginning. Love these videos Scott, thank you for your thorough reviews and honest opinions. It really helps!

These are so epic! As a drummer I often don’t need to go wireless but something like this is great for this shows where I stand on other instruments without breaking the bank!

Thanks for the review—I’ve been comparing different models, watching reviews for everything on the cheaper end of these setups and this looks like a really good option. It’s between this and the XVive…the case is a real seller, and USB-C helps too. I especially like how you pointed out it’d be good option to just hear yourself directly, even if you can’t get the entire mix. As a brass player that little bit really helps. Chops go out the window quick if you’re playing too loud in effort to hear yourself.

It always amazes me how more and more accessible tech is becoming. Not too long ago, an in ear setup was for the big names when they toured - same with cutting the cord from guitar to amp. Of course, now amps aren't needed on the stage, nor are the wedge monitors! I have some sennheiser iem's that fit snugly, so all I need now to complete the picture is the transmitter and receiver. I get a lot out of your content, in particular the HX stomp and HX fx videos. I had no idea just how much of a deep dive I can go with them! So thank you for all the advice. Cheers dude!

I’ve been using both NUX wireless systems for guitar and dynamic microphone for few years now, and if anyone asks me, no one can beat the versatility and quality of those sets. Can’t wait to try this new set! Thanks for review!

As a stay at home dad who does bass and drums for church this sounds like it might be right up my alley

This sounds pretty awesome. I'd use it for practice and a minimal portable system to play while traveling
