Mental health issues in my early 20’s affected my oral hygiene. Started properly caring (and had proper insurance). It is one of the biggest gamechangers in my life

I started brushing & flossing at work in addition to twice a day, and game changer!! I love drinking coffee and snacking & that day routine makes me feel so much cleaner. My teeth feel grimy by nighttime if I don’t

Make sure you start keeping your teeth healthy at a young age. When I was younger, I didn't like going to the dentist and hardly brushed my teeth. Im 38 now and my teeth are not in the best condition. Now I make sure I brush my teeth twice a day and use mouthwash and floss. Also, cut back on sugary drinks and sugary foods to help keep your teeth healthy.

Chew sugarfree gum helps as well. Xylitol naturally cleans teeth.

I appreciate your videos. I wasn’t able to get dental care for a while but I went to the dentist for a checkup and cleaning this week for the first time in 8 years! I’m adopting much better habits now based on your advice and am now going to stay on a regular 6 months schedule.

Hydroxyapatite toothpaste is great if you’re using it alongside fluoride toothpaste. I use both and it helps sensitivity

2:11 I love this image, the angle of the mirror seems like it would be hard for the dentist or the patient to see it. So it looks like the teeth are staring at themselves!

Hi Whitney, I had a dentist tell me he uses three types of tooth brushes every meal and now I do too, every single meal and am 69 and have all my teeth except two which a dentist ruined and, ya know, I am wondering why you don't say to brush and floss after every meal as folks sometimes eat a sugary desert, and great video too!😊

My goal is to always try and brush at least twice a day in between visits …. It has taken a bit of an effort but it has been rewarding to get a positive report from my dentist

I love to use an electric toothbrush, but it’s not always practical. You can’t always keep one at work and my family travels a lot and most people have manual brushes anyway.
I think that a few regularly brush, floss, scrape your tongue, and swish your mouth with water after eating or drinking something, it’s more than enough. I follow your advice about eating cheese and yogurt as well. Does cottage cheese count as well?
Sometimes I’ll have an apple or something instead and you’re right it really helps. Keep the teeth clean.

I can't control an electric toothbrush and it won't fit in the back of my mouth. After using the electric there are all sorts of missed spots so I have to go back over with a manual. We are all different in our mouth shape too.

Hi Whitney,
Great video as always. I've just finished my invaslign treatment FULLY and my mouth has never been healthier. Your videos have helped me get my dental routine back on track and take proper care of my mouth so thank you for the content!
I have a question though: If I notice any tartar/calculus on my teeth, should I go to my dentist ASAP to get it cleaned off or can I leave it until my next cleaning appointment? I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months but I've noticed some build up in hard to reach areas 😕
Edit: I know each mouth is different and it's hard to give a definitive answer as you've not assessed my individual case, but I'm asking as a "general rule of thumb"?
Thanks
