How to start a new game in The Sims 4 - Main Menu Tutorial

the sims 4 main menu is confusing and there's so many ways to start a new save or load up a save even if it's not your most recent so in this tutorial i'm showing you what the whole menu does!

I've always wanted to know how to start like a "base" save that I can use to build or start a new family or legacy or challenge, but the save would already be set up to where I wouldn't have to go into a new game and to CAS and then set up everything over and over again and do the exact same tweaks to the settings repeatedly. It's probably *the* biggest thing that will sometimes discourage me from even playing at all. It's so frustrating.

But I think from watching this video I've maybe figured it out? I would make a new save, go through CAS and then fix all the settings and things for neighborhood stories or gameplay settings or lifespan options etc.. Then from that save I would load into it each time and then make my new family for a challenge save or a build only save or whatever and then I would "save as" each time to start my separate new saves within that *first* base save so that I wouldn't have to start over every time! Does that make sense or sound right? I hope that wasn't too confusing of a question. 😂

I didn't really understand the concept of "New Game" so now I have 3 of my separate families (like one family is my Not So Berry, one is my Werewolf fam and one is my Cottage Living Fam) in one save and I find it super annoying. I get a bit scared of messing with the saves though and losing something. Do I just "save as" somehow to save each family in a separate save and then delete them from each save? I'm not too sure how to fix it !

Thank you for making this!! I started playing Sims 4 again after nearly 8yrs away, and the menu gave me whiplash. And yes, the UI scale and Sims 3 cam is a must for me.

I got so overwhelmed by this menu that up until now I have seriously just hard reset my sims game by deleting the sims 4 folder in the documents folder. Every single time I restart. Thank you for giving me an easier way 😭👌🏻

"yes! you can save as and then once you’ve got all three of those saved separately, you can go into each and customise (for example deleting the extra two families, or keep them and just never play as them) and then use the “load game” to choose which one you want to play whenever you boot up the game"

something I find really annoying is that on the gallery it gives you the option to sort by "owned packs" but it doesn't actually work and just shows you all packs.

I am on the verge of understanding... 😜 Can you clarify... Is there a betters/simpler way to swap between the different worlds worlds... so if I decided I wanted to a different group/world of my sims... is there a way to select a specific saved world and not just lot/family❓️ Does that make sense?

I have a few question, Not quite sure how to articulate them so it makes sence, but here goes...

I really enjoy building homes or trying to for that matter, as well as playing different households. So if I have 5 households that I am playing in new crest, but want to add a couple of other family members in living in a different city/world, Will they still be connected or is each location a totally different save?
The next question is regarding if I were to just want to go build in a world without really playing families, Would that be starting a completely new world And how exactly would you recommend I save it... I am so afraid to look around in there and that i'm going to lose or not find people!
If you have or know of a video that actually goes over switching out and saving this sort of thing I would love to see it because I am a visual learner 😊

I actually learned something today and I've been playing Sims since Sims 1 thanks for your video its always good to learn something I've missed for so long. Cheers, also is there a way for family member in the sims to stop calling other family members to ask if they should have a baby, or is this a glitch?

Hi! Thank you for such a helpful video. I couldnt figure out how to delete a save file. I find alot of lwts plays but not alot of help on how to and getting started. I jumped in and bought alot of packs but I'm cunfused. Also I dont understand how to set up traits and such to match with what I'm trying to achieve. Please more helpful videos. Happy Holidays.

o.m.g. This is truly an eyeopener!! And I think I've found Part 1 to my problems.
I was googling why my world wasn't saving my activity in the game amd came across your video. I ALWAYS thought that you have ONE world (consisting of all the little sims worlds) and "New game" was adding a sims into that world.
Houses that Ive build, simmers I've played would not get saved, and I've been so frustrated. I've spent HOURS finding the perfect houses on the Gallery to make a neighbourhood, added them and decorated a few - only for it all to be gone the next time I started up the game.

I now have houses, sims and stories spread all over, I don't know how many, Save Games.

Is it possible to start a New Game - go into it and edit houses in a particular world and also edit Townsies. Save it, and then create a New Game based on that?
If I want to cut edit Bella in every game I ever play, is that possible?

That part from 5:08 is what I’m currently dealing with. I had 2 sims of my own. Then wanted to create a newer sim for my fiancé and somehow it deleted my other 2 sims. It’s so annoying. On top of that every time I click load game, the game crashes, and I have to restart my PC!!
