I feel like a thousand different people have made this same video for years. They always start and end the exact same way

Apple should force the ipad os team to only use iPadOS as their only device for their work for 1 year. iPadOS could become the best OS in the industry

One simple reason. IF Apple put MacOS on the new iPad M4 it wouldn't sell a single laptop on its line right now. So by limiting the M4 chip by software, they will profit more from the laptop line with MacOS installed. It's all about money, not hardware limitations.

You basically reaffirmed the initial objective for the existence of the iPad as an after work device versus a work device. That strategy hasn’t changed since apple came out with the first iPad.

@7:45 - instead of using command and Q to quit Safari, use command and W. This closes out a single tab each time until Safari also quits… after final tab is closed. Command W will also close out any other application in your main screen. Also command shift, arrow is a bug. I can confirm that this works normally on my iPad and Magic Keyboard. I've used keyboard Shortcuts on the iPad for the last six years after ditching my Mac in 2018

For what the iPad does at the moment. I do believe we can replace the laptop. If you are a IT professional or your needs are a lot greater than others. I would say setting up a VM on your Home network and (with proper security rules) connect to it with Apache guacamole. This will allow you to use the iPad without any hurdles or limitations. Furthermore, we are at a time where we have plenty of options than what's offered from Apple. Example, you hate the magic keyboard, you can build a low profile wireless Bluetooth split keyboard and customize the key mappings (Lily 58). Yes, you will most likely spend more time and money for the convenience, but you are tailoring the experience for your needs.

Mrwhosetheboos tried the same, but in his recent tweet he metioned how the experiment failed. An iPad (probably) will NEVER replace a MacBook. (Speaking from personal experience)

I bought an M1 iPad to replace my aging Mac. There are a few things that were muscle memory on my Mac that I had adjust to on my iPad but after a while I don’t even think about it or notice this anymore and I adopted new habits on my iPad. An iPad is just as capable as a Mac at this point it’s just a bit different. With enough time everything becomes second nature.

It is all about "use case". I am an executive, and in my office I use a MacBook Pro with 2-additional monitors at my desk. Everything else, it is a maxed iPad Pro 13" M-1. Meetings, and travel can be accomplished by an iPad Pro.

I went 13” iPad Pro over MacBook Air. Love it

I agree with some of the others that have said what makes the iPad different is that is a touch first display so it doesn’t relay on keyboard shortcuts as much. Things like closing an app if even need to do that are possible but probably not needed. Both have their place but having a touchscreen that is easily removable is a big plus.

Personally for me, the biggest reason to grab my iPad Pro over my Macbook Air when going out is it's standalone cellular capabilities. I hate tethering my phone because more often than not, the connection can get pretty unreliable and hotspot mode makes my phone extremely hot when in use

OK, I use both an iPad and a MacBook Pro. But for years my iPad was my only "laptop". Many of the issues you had with the iPad not working like the Mac is a matter of getting used to how things are done on iPad. It is an iPad, not a Mac. And that means that it is touch first, trackpad second. By the way, why do you have an almost American accent if you are from Romania and live in the UK? I live in the US but I'm originally from PR? 🤔

On closing apps on the iPad: push up slowly from the bottom and all windows will display. Flick the window you want to close - it moves up and closes.

Sold my iPad Pro 11 and I’m leaving the iPad behind for now. Getting a Surface Pro Elite 5G. I need a computer that can do anything when I’m traveling. iPad is just not it.

Well done. Interactive and progressive review was really a good way to see the iPad in use as a MacBook Air replacement.
