Once the walls are up just hold the rafter on the end of the wall(clamps/nail) to the desired pitch that you want and trace it out on the rafter, use that rafter as a template.

im using rafter hangers. The first 4 are pretty tight i had to bang them in with hammer, is that really bad? Should i make the others loser?

To build the front and back walls that aren’t shown in the thumbnail would you keep them the same height as the shortest wall or angle them? Would have to cut each stud to match the roof angle I assume.

I just use metal joist hangers to avoid all of that lol. Works great

Like you mentioned in the beginning of the video, is it possible to install a roof without the seat cuts? I don't have the tools available to make those cuts and I am building a small shed for a local highschool. One wall is 8 feet tall and the other wall is 7 feet tall.

Can anyone give an answer, making a horizontal roof with 5 x 30 cm wood boards / joists (30 cm being vertically) would the boards in 5 meters length bend from it's own weight and snow ? And what is the max spacing allowed between boards, is 70 cm enough ?

Reminds me of how the ancient Greeks used to do full size layouts on the flat stone floor of not only to derive unknown dimensions, but also to creat a full size template for the subtle elongated (entasis) curves of the full size columns.

great video. i would add this roof would need to be a pitch of at least 4 / 12 to accept shingles, alot of people building sheds shingle too flat of a roof pitch because they dont know any better.

Depending on the height difference on the wall, how do you know if you should cut 1/4” per foot or 1/2” per foot? Is there a method of doing this or a building code that regulates this?
