In the bus scenario, I think it's fine to move. Most people want to have their own arm rest (even if they don't actually use it), so they'll be glad to have more space.

Now, there will probably be a few people that internalize it, wondering if they smell, or if they're unintentionally acting creepy, or something like that ... but they'll still be glad to have the extra space.

Just the other day, a storeclerk clicked his tongue because I asked a bunch of questions and it made me feel so bad, like I wronged him
But then the other storeclerk took over because the manager told the first clerk to go fetch something and this guys answered my questions and requests with a smile and even gave me a thumbs up, what a great guy
