I literally thank God every day that I have zero student loans. I only have two semesters of school left I have one of those already paid for and I’m not worried about coming up with the rest. But to get here I’ve had to say no to a lot of things that I wanted to say yes to.

Higher education has become a huge hustle. I hope this segment helps someone make a better choice.

5:22 "I cannot drop the mic, cause it's like attached." -Ken Coleman. That was funny.

If nobody told you to get a Master's Degree or PhD, you probably shouldn't get one. They are for people who are being deliberately groomed by mentors for specific roles. And you shouldn't get any degree until you know what field you want to go into and someone has told you what degree they have and why it was important for learning the skills they use on the job.

Prestige and ego drive a lot of people to be ripped off. Do your research to see who is hiring graduates of these programs and talk to people at those companies.

Sounds like the best job to get would be on the executive boards at these colleges 🤦🏽‍♀️

I got a double B.A. in legal studies and philosophy at my college. I was one of the top students in philosophy and thought about pursuing a PhD in it. Literally every philosophy professor and mentor I talked to said I shouldn’t pursue a PhD and that I’d be better doing anything else. They said unless I can’t imagine myself having any other career, it wouldn’t be worth the cost and the struggle. I’m so glad they were honest and that I followed their advice!

I hope today's parents will now sit with their teenagers and talk about career choices, college choice, finances and reality of job growth in that career area.

All the time people tell me “oh you should go back to school”. I have an associates degree and no student loan debt. I would rather work and find a good job with the skills I have.

I studied music as my BA and had to pay tuition as I went because I could not get a student loan. I graduated with the debt of my last semester tuition (paid with credit card) and paid it off 6 months after graduation. I have a lot of friends who have master degrees in music and I think they are still paying their student loans.

“Elite” Master’s Degrees that do not pay off: the cliff notes edition- ANYTHING that someone else isn’t paying for, so if your job, or your school isn’t paying for it and you have to end up in so much debt- that master degree will most likely not pay off (and it’s not necessary).

I never pursued my masters. I just don't feel it's worth it. Too much time and effort with too much debt and even then you have no idea if the masters will ever pay off. No deal.

I used my employer's tuition assistance combined with the GI Bill to finish my bachelor's and now to basically cover my entire master's.

It brings me so much joy to hear Ken just shred these pompous arrogant universities. People are waking up and realizing that the "prestigious" universities aren't worth it.

The fact that our government loaned the guy 200k for film art is a sign something has to change
