Don't be misled. This is very disceptive. The problem for us to understand is that God is holy. He can not dwell with sin. In the New Testament, where we learn about the God of love, it says, "Behold then the goodness and severity of God ... (Romans 11:22). Jesus Christ, God in the flesh like us, came to make us accepted by a Holy God through faith in Him. He alone was acceptable to God and gave us this free gift of acceptance by salvation through faith in Him. We, on our own, can not achieve this and are continually under the wrath of God because of sin. Yes, the God of the Old Testament loved us so much that He Himself died on the cross in our place (in Jesus Christ His Son) that whosoever would believe in Him and walk in the path He provided for us would not perish, but have everlasting life with a holy God forever. This is the Gospel, the good news.
