Amazing. I was an atheist for most my life. The typical minimal effort dismisser that never gave anything spirtual serious consideration because I thought "it's so obviously a lie it doesn't desearve my time". One day the super natural sort of snuck itself into my view for the first time and it didn't seem so obviously stupid as before. Platos Cave is an excellent paralel to Christian understanding. I now contribute my unbelief to a state of pride that mentally blocks any sort of spiritual faith.

It's so visible now speaking to atheists. They have that mental block and literally cannot weigh faith honestly. It's like the idea that "seeing a 4th dimensional being would overload the human brain and kill them so the brain percieves the 4d creature as the closest comprehendable object (like an psychology inkblot test). (That's kinda what i attribute the descriptions of angels to originate from).

Atheism I believe can only be undone by the Holy Spirit.

Plato also said, most people are not just comfortable in their ignorance, but hostile to anyone who points it out.

This allegory by Plato, is one of the greatest things he ever wrote, definitely one of my favorites, and I've often linked the allegory with my Christian experience, yet John Lennox put it in words I was never able to. God bless John Lennox for his work with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his apologetics. And thank you sir for this great content. 👍

Just two weeks ago I used Plato's cave as an illustration for my message. It's really a great idea.

C S Lewis explains heaven using Plato's experience but with a mirror, and it was the first time in my life I understood that heaven is the realest dimension of reality. That completely changed my perspective in life.

Wish my brain could wrap around this discussion. Just a bit over my head at times. 😢 I really enjoy listening to Mr Lennox speak. Sometime "I get it."😊
I'll keep reading my Bible... it is a challenge in itself. BUT the Holy Spirit helps. New revelation every day.
Thank you for your videos. I'll watch more than once .

Heaven will be amazing. No longer will we be limited by the five senses, and we will be aware that this life on earth is death, compared to what is to come in the next. Blesses be Jesus! Free us from the darkness of sin.

John Lennox mentions C.S. Lewis using Plato's allegory of the cave in one of his Narnia books. That book is The Silver Chair. 👍

This is great. Those in darkness are described as follows:
1st Timothy 6:16-“Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.”

John 3:20-“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.”

John 15:18, 25-“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.”

The Plato’s Cave allegory illustrates what happens when people are deprived of education. Without knowledge people won’t be able to tell the difference between what is true or false.
