Welcome back to another Restring Sunday where we take a guitar, restring it and talk about it. Today we have Glen's first real electric guitar, a Fender Squire Tele. A cheap beginners guitar that has served him for 17 years proving that cheap guitars can be good.

that purple on black on the Tele really pops, and the fact Glenn was a Status Quo fan at age ten cements it, he's a renaissance man

I really dig the purple on black. Yeah, it requires more cleaning but, I think, it looks badass

Seeing Glen on your channel is always a delight. And it makes me happy to see that I'm not the only Telecaster/Les Paul grandpa (presumably) around my age. 😂

I feel like a roast my guitar segment would fit this channel well, with Glen

My Squier grew with my ability. When I wanted humbuckers on my strat I learned how to solder. When I wanted coil tapping, I learned wiring. When the sound wasn’t what I wanted, I learned how to wind my own pickups. When the pickups didn’t fit, I learned chiseling and dremel work to craft pickguards. And when I realized it weighed as much as a loaf of bread, I added a bunch of brass plates to it lol. It’s been 4 different colors, 5 different pickup combos, and 3 different bridge setups. It will never leave me until I’m dead.

Thank you for presenting the title as a statement of fact, not a question! It bothers me how people are STILL surprised at how great cheaper, overseas guitars actually are

That Tele is a match for my Jazz bass. It's black and I swapped the pick guard out for a purple mirror picker just like yours. It's awesome!

Glen's first electric guitar sounds like mine, way back in the mid 80s. I ordered it from a mail order catalog from either Sears or JCPenney (people in the states above the age of 40 will recognize those names and the catalogs). The brand was Harmony, it was a sunburst strat and came with a little practice amp, chord and some picks. Everything you needed to get started, all for $99.

I like the purple on black, very cool. Also, classic Status Quo (especially from 70 - 77) were the absolute business.

I love the LORE !!! The mirrored purple Tele looks so rad, no wonder it saved a few gigs. Telecasters just get the job done!

The videos with Glen are great, because KDH is in content mode and Glen just doesn't care.

"So we're doing a video on first guitars..."

"Oh, it's not my first guitar"

you two are great together, old mates who are comfortable with each other on camera, keep it unreal !!!

Glen is good fun, you’ve got good chemistry as a duo. And who doesn’t love a good Squier? Plenty of guitarists start with one, then find out that going higher up in expense doesn’t always get them a whole lot more.
