Quick tip number 4, don’t throw your watch onto oncoming traffic. Collision with fast moving cars will likely damage the watch.

If you regularly swim with your watch it might be worth taking it to a watchmaker once a year to check the gaskets

Been swimming with my SMP 300 at the pool and taking it to the sauna for years, haven't had a problem with it so far. Going to the AD to ask them about a service, it couldn't hurt.

Avoid doing with your watch what it's advertised to be good for.

Here’s another tip: instead of rinsing your dive watch under a faucet, actually dunk it in a basin of water and turn the bezel a few revolutions to break up the salt crystals that have formed underneath. After a dive in Hawaii a few weeks ago, I rinsed my Citizen Promaster Aqualand under the tap and, after it dried, I found the bezel difficult to rotate. I then filled the bathroom sink with water, submerged the watch, and turned the bezel a few times. Voilà! The bezel now turns like it used to! 🤿👌🏼

In short use a Seiko for all these situations and use an Omega for a dinner date.

I have always wondered about the water resistance ratings. When 200m means it's ok to go swimming, 100m is ok in the shower, and 30m means if it gets splashed you need to use a hair dryer and a bag of rice, things are more than a little bit off. But we've come to accept these ratings as they are. We've seen a video demonstrating how big a shock the G-Shock can actually handle; how about another demonstrating the actual water resistance of a few different watches?

I swam with each of my automatic watches, a Rolex, a Seiko and a Breitling and also took them to sauna. All still working fine
These watches had been with me for some 25 years.

Say I got into the gulf of mexico on a day like yesterday when the heat index was 119 degrees. Thats heat and saltwater. Am I just double screwed?

Just don't take your omega in the sea or shower ! Get a Steeldive for that 👌👌👌

I thought the newer watches use steel that doesn’t need to be rinsed… like the new submariners from Rolex too.

That's why I never swim with my divers. The brands don't want you to know but you're not supposed to swim in them.

Do people actual dive with dive watches?? I own one too but I would much rather diving with a dive computer.
Way more practical and cheap
