I had an LEQ in class today that I knew barely anything about at first, but I started writing anyways and by the end I was proud of my essay and I was able to scrounge up some specific examples and analysis relevant to the prompt!

This happens to me all the time. I forgot how to spell the word "door" once due to this. It's kinda a panicky feeling so I get what you went through in that stream. But live!? That's crazy. Also, are you planning any livestreams soon for AP world?

My AP teachers have both told us that you can write literally anything but as long as you answer the question, you will get the points. You could draft an argument about why the final season of Family Guy should’ve been season 4, but as long as you mention “oh and also this” and give them the answer, you get the points. You cannot lose points, you can only gain them

Just finished my APUSH exam, I ended up spelling or as “ore” on my LEQ and was confused why that didn’t look right

Literally happened to me during the APUSH exam this year on the LEQ. I managed to come up with a passable essay but without what I learned here things could've been so much worse, so thanks for helping me out Heimler!

I remember my APEURO teacher gave us a list of dates to remember for context, like Martin Luther's 95 theses, Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations, assassination of Franz Ferdinand, Prague Spring, etc. He told us even if you don't remember anything, at least try to connect those dates to what we have to write about.

Thank you for your honesty. Thank you for giving students a breath of fresh air where they can recover their composure and begin to recover from brain freeze. You are truly a great communicator and teacher.

As a longtime teacher, I’m in awe of your work! In addition to the obvious breadth of your knowledge and your passion for your content, the honesty of this particular video makes you such a gift to the kids. Keep on keepin’ on!

I got a 5 on mine some 10 years ago and went on to get a history BA, and honestly I would struggle to answer some of these long form questions off the top of my head. It's all about playing your strengths. A broad general knowledge will get you through the multiple choice, but you need some degree of depth for the long form questions. I remember that for euro you have an option, and often you are doing early modern history (~1400-1700) or straight up modern history (1700-1990). So instead of cramming both "chunks, " I ended up playing to my strengths in modern history. I can mostly get through multiple choice on the Reformation, yes, but I knew I would likely get to choose between early modern and modern on my long form questions. That was ultimately my strategy going in, and it squeaked out a 5 for me.

it's 11 pm. it's tech week for the school musical so i've had seven hours of rehearsal after school each day. i have an leq tomorrow, first period, and my teacher won't tell us what the time periods are. i've made the decision to not study the entirety of world history because i won't remember any of it and instead i'm just watching this. thanks, heimler. hopefully this goes well.
