Gravity Falls: D & M vs. The Future - Aliens Existed All Along

I remember reading a Season 1 interview with Alex Hirsch where he talked about how aliens were the only supernatural creature the show has as "off limits." He talked about how aliens were such a degree beyond any other creature that he wouldn't know where to go from there, and if Gravity Falls had aliens he'd probably save them for the penultimate episode.

So when Ford started talking about aliens I was like "Oh crap, this is the endgame."

Gravity Falls is full of crazy stuff, and yet they managed to be surprising with the reveal of aliens by introducing them so late and being so subtle about it.

What i found interesting in this episode was a code on one of the walls in the UFO, it was in the bill cipher code and translated into "SPECIMEN HAS ESCAPED IS CHANGING FORM", which ties in with a flashback of ford finding a mysterious egg in the forest in a "tale of 2 stans", which when hatched, became the shapeshifter in "into the bunker". coincidence? i think not.

I love the idea of having a "Above all" group that originates every event and manages to be more powerful than Bill himself, just disappear out of nowhere

Honestly, I think the biggest mystery of the entire series is how Dipper is able to fit pretty much anything inside his vest.

I love how we all had the same reaction as dipper. Well, for me at least. Up until that point I was shown the cliffs countless times throughout the series and did not once notice that it looked like a flying saucer.

So you mean to tell me that this saucer has been in that spot since the dawn of man, and not a single person ever bothered to notice the enormous saucer-shaped divot in the ground this entire time? At no point in the entirety of man's history did this slightly-underground alien craft ever catch anyone's attention?

There are secret references to reptile alien people in the lore of the show. Not to mention the announcement of UFOs seemingly out of nowhere in the middle of the climax. There needs to be a season 3... too many unexplained things still

even though we all saw it coming, i still think this was one of the most dramatic and flabbergasting reveals in the entire series aside from stanford's introduction.

something about finally seeing the direct acknowledgement of aliens in gravity falls was so shaking, imo. the first time i saw this episode my jaw dropped from surprise and excitement because it seemed like one of those background details that was never meant to become a plot point and it also added so much more weight to the lore of the series.

I’m kind of disappointed that they didn’t continue to learn more about the aliens after Weirdmageddon, but it still had a happy ending
