My Biggest Fear While Camping Came True.

I want to thank you for coming along on a winter truck camping adventure in back county of Minnesota with Toby and Kenny of All Trades.
Thankfully this video worked the second time around. Toby and I went camping on Thursday. The plan was we would make a video earlier in the week so I would not be so rushed with editing and I would have more time to polish the video. Unfortunately things didn't go as planed. Like I said in the video, Toby wondered away from the campsite. I had my back turned for about 4 minuets, thats all it took. I could see the spot on the ground where he jumped out the truck window, but no other tracks. I spent the majority of the day looking for him. I logged 7 miles walking the woods and brush looking for him, Mandi and Connor logged 5 miles on their phones. I spoke with all the neighbors within 5 miles of my campsite and I informed the local Sheriffs Department. Every small town in Minnesota has two things, a church and a bar. I went to the bar and told everyone their I was looking for my dog. Everyone I spoke with was extremely kind.
I hope you can understand why I did not turn on my camera. I felt sick! I was thinking of all the worst things that could happen. Wolfs, coyotes, bear, and big cats are in this area. The river was opening up in spots and ice was extremely thin. Even if I did turn the camera, I wouldn't know what to say and making a video was the last thing on my mind.
That night, while sitting in my truck I was praying that everything would turn out for the best. Then, not long after I heard the fimilur sound of Toby's tag bouncing off his collar. I was so thankful, a huge weight was instantly lifted off my shoulders.
This weeks video was exactly like I said in the begining, no expectations, no plans. I was just happy to be back in the place I belong with my best frined by my side. I dont even want to think about where I would be if it had not turned out this way.
Thanks for watching, Toby and I will see you again soon.
Kenny

Hey Bud. Tip for you to keep Toby close. I trained my pitter with a guy who taught me "attention" training. Take Toby to a large field, or park. Get a long lead 100 ft (home depot nylon rope with latch) let him wander off. When he gets to the end of the rope pick it up and give a yank while simultaneously calling him. Practice this over and over and he will know that when you call he needs to come to you. Once he has mastered that take him to the park and let him wander without the rope. When he gets far away, Call him. He will come to you. Once he is used to that start whistling instead of calling. I did this with my dog and no matter how far away he was from me (out of sight) all I had to do is whistle and he would come running full speed. Never had an issue even around other dogs, people etc

What a companion. People don’t realize how dogs become our best friends. So glad Toby is ok.

Garmen makes a nice tracking coller. Get two collers one for Toby and one you leave in your truck. You can always find your way back. May the good Lord watch over you and your family and friends. Peace and Love 😊.

I almost didn’t watch this video because I was afraid of the ending. Thank God I was wrong! I’m so happy Toby found his way back safely. He’s such a good dog and seems very loyal. My dog can’t be off leash. I never know what he’ll do.

glad you waited and he was strong enough to find his way back to you. Amen. Dogs are amazing! Animals, never know what they will do in certain situations. Instincts direct their path.
We love you both! Take care.
