I built a new PC after movers dropped my old one down a flight of stairs and totaled it. So I decided to upgrade. Only my “upgrade” is currently very expensive and large paperweight. I have no idea what’s going wrong with my build. I have RMA’d the MB and CPU. A friend brought over his PSU, GPU, and RAM, and no combination can get this build to work. What on earth am I doing wrong YouTube?

2 Years later and u just saved me the biggest headache. I had the same issue when changing power supplies; I used some of the power cables from the old power supply

I had the same stupid problem, plugged in the first unlabled connector from my Power Supply to the CPU and it would not turn on. The connector was the right size and shape.
Then I switched the CPU power to the 2 X 4pin connectors that snap together to make it 8pin. Then the computer booted.

No where in the manual does it explain this. No lables are on the power supply connectors.
This is just a bad design. If the mother board or power supply will be picky for the connector plugged into then they should make it unique so you cant plug in the wrong one.
ATX designers failed us.

Some steps to try didn't work for me on my 3rd build but might help you. Remove the CMOS battery for 30 seconds and put it back, this clears the CMOS. Use the paper clip to test your power supply and buy a good power supply. A lot of psus have a tester that looks like a dust cover for the 24 pin main connector. Make sure you use the 4 + 4 connector for your cpu and not a 6 + 2 which is for the gpu. Make sure your ram is in the right slot for 1 stick, 2 sticks or 4 sticks. Your mobo owners manual will tell you. (in the case of Ryzen cpu make sure your ram is on the compatibility list)
