Urinary urgency occurs in women and men when the bladder muscle contracts. This increases the risk of bladder leakage especially with urgency in public. Bladder control training involves learning to control bladder urgency, reduce bladder frequency and stop your bladder controlling your life.

I can hold my pee for hours but the catch is whenever i'm in some new place or in difficult situation without toilet like traffic jam my brain is panicking and suddenly i need to pee. My friends are frustrated with me and also i feel like a joke sometimes or like a kid. I'll try these methods to trick my brain that i can handle this situation with grace in case of emergency! My urgency comes out of nowhere.Sometime ago, I traveled to Taiwan with touring busses where we would stop to eat and drink.As you may know the food is delicious and has a lot of water.All of a sudden I developed urgency and most of the time there were ques to use the toilets and there was one or 2 toilets to sit on and the rest were the squat ones.Because I didn't know how to stop the urgency I had to buy pampers so I wouldn't embarras myself repeatedly.How I thank this lady for the many ways to stop this.The one that works really well for me are the different ways of relaxing the bladder and and focusing on something else.I am afraid to use the bending etc because I think I might lose control but I can try it at home on my own till I master the technic Thank you so much for this.

Thank you for the tips! I’m seeing a pelvic physiotherapist for prolapse and adhesions. Here is a tip that actually did help. When you have the urge, take a deep breath and relax the pelvic then count backwards from 100 in twos or threes, within a few minutes the urge is gone. I’m still working on this while on a long car ride. Hope this helps 🥰

I had bladder urgency for years, and none of these tips ever worked. Then the cause of my urgency was found (symptomatic sacral Tarlov cysts), and I had surgery to have those wrapped. The urgency issues totally disappeared. But I then had to retrain my bladder. And these tips work now with "regular" occasional urgency. I do the Kegel and pelvic floor pressure if necessary, as well as controlled breathing. Staying hydrated also helps, as before, I restricted my water intake to try (unsuccessfully) to alleviate the urgency. Now I drink 3 quarts or liters of water a day with no issues and no nighttime bathroom trips as before. I discovered these tips on my own over a period of several years ... hopefully your video will save some folks a lot of time!

Hi Michelle. One of my issues is bladder spasms. I often find simply drinking more water can help. Keeping a good bowel routine is vital for me as a full bowel can press on the bladder causing terrible pain. Many people don’t realise that bowel habits can hugely affect your bladder due to them being located close to each other. I find constipation can be a warning sign for severe bladder pain so do my best to avoid this.
