Members of the University’s Senior Leadership Team got digging in Park Lodge Projects garden.

Taking advantage of the University’s volunteering staff policy, the team used the opportunity to make positive change in the community, completely transforming the garden where homeless young adults are given a home.

Dave Hall, Chief Operating Officer said “The University of Leicester was established by the people of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, in memory of those who made sacrifices during the First World War. We were set up by the people for the people.

Over recent decades we have created a world class research base, we welcome in thousands of students and staff from across the globe, and we are committed to engaging with our local community.

One of the many initiatives we’ve introduced is to support every member of staff in their volunteering activities by allowing them to use up to two days of work time for volunteering purposes. This equates to the University staff being able to provide up to 8,000 days of volunteering in the community per year.”
