It IS the case for luxury goods though. Companies have profit margins of like 2000% and artificial scarcity matters over material quality. Cars arent even the same thing, since "luxury" shoes and hadbags are a moneygrab while luxury cars are sold as reliable and so are made reliable

Luxurious doesn't always translate to high quality because its more about the brand and the logo itself.
Most of the time these supposedly expense clothes are still made in China but with higher quality materials to meet EU or US standards

Its not quality, thats not the reason why the rich buy gucci or luisvitton over knockoffs. Its simply for status and nothing more. You can still buy high quality and comfortable clothing items for cheap because the materials are cheap. People spend only on name brand. For vehicles its a little more complicated because the higher end vehicles usually have higher performance but normally it doesn't justify the price. A 100k USA car would probably out compete a 400k italian car anyday.
