If anyone wanted to know why salt water makes you float, its because it is much denser meaning it weighs more per unit, meaning it displaces you more as it is heavier.

They advise you not to float on your stomach or try to swim (or at least they did when I went)... I also ended uo having to help all the old people on my tour get back on their feet once they started floating as they couldn't put their feet down....
