Two years ago I had the privilege of undergoing a light years smarter version of this method. A small catheter is inserted the way this video shows. But instead of steam it generates an extremely careful and supervised microwave effect in the narrowed part of urethra. Took me less than 15 minutes and only a small and short termed local anastethia.
I didnt feel a thing neither then or later. A few weeks later the dead parts of the former narrowed area started to vanish via the urine in a natural way. And after another week or two my problem was gone. To me, this was a wonder and I can sincerely RECOMMEND THIS METHOD to be considered for every man with BPH. I live in Sweden and this method is invented and implemented in swedish hospitals by privat company named ProstaLund in city of Lund, Sweden. In my opinion this is the best treatment for BHP there is today.

I had this barbaric procedure almost four years ago. The biggest mistake of my life. I was severely burned and am still recovering. All my previous symptoms worsened after this procedure and I developed very painful bladder stones because blood from the procedure leaked into my bladder. I had to have them removed. DO NOT UNDERGO THIS PROCEDURE!

I started taking Saw Palmetto over 2 months ago. Turns out it is helping. It does take about 6 weeks of daily intake before the results started to show so you have to be patient. It's not a dramatic difference peeing like a horse type of thing but the urgency is gone, I can go 6 hours or more between bathroom visits now and the flow is a little better. I suggest trying everything before going the steam route.

I had this procedure 5 months ago. It was the the most painful thing I have ever experienced. If you think you are going to walk out feeling like a new man, you are mistaken. My life was absolute hell for 2 months. Now after 5 months I am no better than before the Rezum procedure. I think these videos are sponsored by Boston Scientific, the company that purchased the steam machine. Just imagine having 4 injections of live steam being injected through your penis into your prostate. It is barbaric. I would never have the Rezum procedure performed on me again. Never! It has taken 5 months for the pain prior to voiding to subside. I wish I had a TURP rather than the Rezum procedure.

I had Rezum done twice. It's painful for 5 minutes or so, almost a form of willing torture but hey, I needed it. The first time seemed like is was a wonder treatment, around 2016. Within the first few days, I immediately noticed improvement. The difference felt like I had been peeing through a coffee stir straw and afterwards it felt like I could pee through a waterhose. Prior to the procedure I'd been having UTI's and nocturia, 5/6 times a night. Overall, the procedure benefits lasted about 2.5 years and had the procedure again at about 3 years. The second time around, the results were less noticeable and back to where I started once more another 2.5 years later. However, this time I will not have a temporary fix. I chose Rezum due to low complications and the fact it wouldn't interference with other areas of my life. My goal is to treat BPH not just limp along with it so now I am considering either PAE or Aquablation as to not interfere with my manhood. It showed a lot of promise originally but the Dr. thought he could change his technique the second time to make it last longer but that didn't happen. This isn't a miracle cure and I would recommend against having it done. Also, my urgency never went away - but it was nice not to plan your trips around restroom breaks and constant pit stops. For a while there, it seemed I couldn't go longer than hour or do one movie without having to go. I'm there now, again but studying once more to ensure I make the best decision again for my health.

Like all medical procedures, it depends on the skill of the physician and the physical history of the patient.

I looked up side effects on Bing. For something that is supposed to ease the syptoms of bph, I found this, and I quote: "Steam treatment for BPH carries a low risk of side effects12. However, some side effects may still be experienced after the procedure34. These include:
Frequent urination or difficulty urinating
Painful urination
Blood in the urine and/or in semen
An inability to hold urine (incontinence)
Infection or symptoms resembling a urinary tract infection

Had this done three years ago.
It was an extremely painful procedure. You are being scalded by superheated steam for about Five minutes though it seemed longer.
The recovery was painful, but seemed to show good results. Much better urine flow etc. for about two months. Then after everything had healed I was right back to where I was before the procedure getting up three to four times a night to urinate. It did however stop all ejaculation though my ability to orgasam was not impeded. A dry orgasm is just not the same.
Essentially a big waste of time and money.
Would not recommend this.

I've never had this procedure done, but I will say pumpkin seed oil is low cost and helps every day.

But, what causes that tissue to grow in the first place? this is just another example of treating the symptom and not the cause, hey?

I had the REZUM procedure done also ...it helped a lot but it's not perfect ....I have a "lobe" they could not reach, still blocking the Urethra a little bit.. I was advised it would take a Green laser procedure/ hospital stay, to get the rest. Plan on being on a catheter and bag for at least a week after Rezum. the procedure was not comfortable even, though they numbed up the Urethra and prostate. I have a low pain tolerance, you can't numb me up enough. It felt like needle stings when they activated the steam . I will probably have to have another "reduction " procedure at some point in the future. Rezum does NOT stop the prostate from enlarging ...it just kills a part of it off, hopefully enough to last you a few more years.

Would it be better to just have the prostate Removed?

I underwent the same treatment almost 2 1/2 years ago, and I agree with the patient in this video that it is nothing short of miraculous. I had all the worst symptoms. Today it is as if the clock has been turned back at least 35 years or more. The list of symptoms is too long and would really sound incredible but I will mention one and that is urgency. No more urgency. If I have to go I can wait. I don’t have to urgently look for a rest room. Additionally, I get a good nights sleep. I get up twice and I can deal with that.

I have had a enlarged prostate for 7 years approx 3 weeks ago my prostate swelled one evening out I was in so much pain not being able to pass water I had to go to hospital and have a catheter inserted ( not very nice) with a leg bag but not having to find a toilet or get up at night it has it’s advantages for 2/3 months at least, this is one procedure that definitely not on my list your comments are very painfully

I am disappointed that there is a total lack of coverage concerning the pain encountered during the procedure. There are only a few urologists that are competent enough to administer 2 rounds of pain mitigation, yet apparently this is not part of the standard procedure touted by the company. I saw another video where the doctor thought taking a big breath of NO2 was going to be good enough to cover thr pain.

I’ve spoken with my urologist at Kaiser who told me TURP is the gold standard.
