Lossless Scaling Guide | Frame Generation & Upscaling In ANY Game

*Universal LSFG Guide (AMD/Intel/NVIDIA)*

1: Set your game to borderless fullscreen (if the option does not exist or work then windowed, it does not work with exclusive fullscreen)

2: Set "Scaling Mode" to "Auto" and "Scaling Type" to "Off" (this ensures you're playing at native & not upscaling, since the app also has upscaling functionality which you can use if you want)

3: Limit your framerate by half of your monitors hertz, if you want a lower framerate then you need to lower your hertz as well (ex: 120 ÷ 2 = 60) via RTSS or driver. Hertz that end in odd numbers that cannot be evenly capped (165hz) will either have to make a custom hz like 164hz or go down to something like 144hz.

4: Whatever framerate you have make sure you're able to maintain it so you don't throw off the frame pacing (it has to be stable and consistent)

5: Now click scale then click on your game. You can also setup a keybind to do it. After this step your game will be interpolated

*NVIDIA LSFG Guide*

1: Set your monitor to its highest supported hertz

2. Check your game and find what frame you can hit consistently & cap it there

4: Use the ordinary steps to scale your game & everything. This method should provide superior results but only works for NVIDIA users

*Bonus Tips*

Tip 1: Some people found better results adding Lossless Scaling to their driver software then enabling forced v-sync on it

Tip 2: Overlays can interfere with Lossless Scaling

Tip 3: Things under the "Rendering" tab except "Draw FPS" in the program may cause issues as they're untested. If you encounter any issues disable them

Tip 4: Playing with controller offers a better experience than mouse as latency penalties are much harder to perceive

Tip 5: Use upscaling with a scale factor of 1.1 or 1.2 to offset the FG cost (LS1 or FSR1 recommended)

*Minimum & Recommended List*

Minimum Supported: 30fps to 60hz
Minimum Advised: 45fps to 90hz
Minimum Recommended: 60fps to 120hz
Recommended: 120fps+ to 240hz+

*LSFG Guide*

1 - Set your game to borderless fullscreen (if the option does not exist or work then windowed, it does NOT work with exclusive fullscreen)

2- Set "Scaling Mode" to "Auto" and "Scaling Type" to "Off" (this ensures you're playing at native & not upscaling, since the app also has upscaling functionality which you can use if you want)

3 - Cap your in game FPS to half your monitors refresh rate hertz. If your hertz isn't evenly dividable like 165 just round down (this tip applies to the DXGI capture method, if using a different form of capturing there's an additional requirement which is that you need a stable and locked framerate for correct framepacing)

*LSFG Tips*

Tip 1: Some people found better results adding Lossless Scaling to their driver software then enabling forced v-sync on it

Tip 2: Overlays can interfere with Lossless Scaling

Tip 3: Things under the "Rendering" tab except "Draw FPS" in the program may cause issues. If you encounter any issues disable them

Tip 4: Playing with controller offers a better experience than mouse as latency penalties are much harder to perceive

Tip 5: Enhanced Sync, Fast Sync & Adaptive Sync do not work

Tip 6: Due to the fact LSFG has a performance overhead use a scale factor of 1.1 or 1.2 to offset its cost entirely (recommended to use with LS1 or FSR1)

Some of these tips require experimentation/testing, so actually see if they help or harm your experience

Frame generation feels like magic, i am using it to play PS2 games at 120fps it's incredible

I feel like it's not really registering with people how insane this is

I have this tool for years. im glad they are updating it

If using upscale I recommend using LS1 and LS1 performance. They are machine-learning spatial upscalers made by the developer behind lossless scaling and they are amazing at preserving details. LS1 has the same impact on the hardware as FSR1 with way better quality, while LS1 Performance has lesser quality than standard LS1 but with more FPS, and higher quality and FPS than FSR1.

>make a video about a software that's made to increase fps
>don't show fps

Absolutely incredible

Best explanation I've found for this software, thank you man.

Used this with the FSR 3 mod in Cyberpunk to go from 36 to 144 frames. The input lag is noticeable but still interesting.

Thank you so much for this. This is the ultimate guide for Frame generation, works great on the ROG Ally!

Wouldn't "2" be multiplying the resolution twice? So wouldn't having it at "1.5" upscale 1440 to 2160 aka 4K?

I bought lossless scaling years ago, man it is finally worth using lol

Worked like a charm on my poor poor GTX 970. Getting consistent 60 fps in the Lower City on Baldur's Gate 3. Artifacts here and there but that's to be expected.

It just got updated to remove UI ghosting/artefacting while using frame generation. Now it double your fps and works like a dream.

I tried this feature in my aya neo geek with amd 680m and is a game changer specially for battery handheld devices it helps keep the console cool and warm by limiting frame rate

Some please ask the Loseless Scaling dev to add black frame insertion too, it would be amazing. saw the update but nice seeing you making a vid about LS, it is a really great app already

My 1080ti may live to see another game.

Insane little program. Using it to play Breath of the Wild at 120 fps is nutty

So you set the desired resolution in the game itself, (so for me it would be 4k) and if i set the lossless upscaling to 2x it would set the render resolution to like 1080p and upscale it to 4k

OR

I set the render resolution (at like 1080p/1440 sorry idk how 2x works, if it doubles the pixeldensity or the height of the resolution, my guess the pixeldensity) and then set it to 2x to get 4k?

From the video i would guess the first since you said after you set it the fps increases, not the resolution, but i am still at a loss on how this works

Ps.: sorry i know it’s a dumb question

Quick and easy way to make CPU intensive games(in my case planet zoo)much more playable. Thank you so much!

I thought it was broken at first, made my game super bright. But then I activated hdr support and it worked. So absolutely don't disable that if you're playing hdr games on an hdr monitor.
