It's funny how more light gives you the appearance of better blacks, your eyes shut down the dark aspects when the brightness hits a certain point. I'm finding myself liking high bright or low bright, the mid range brings in the bloom without causing the eyes to close up it seems

I spent the whole day tuning my 65" x90j, I'm actually really impressed where I've come to with everything, way better than I thought possible with white pixel clarity, color highlight tuning, and most of all blooming. Keeping basic bias back from the middle is key(I had red bias in the positive), and I brought the multi 1 point way down and 2 point a bit too.
If any one wants a full Sony x90j calibration setup, let me know 👍
finding your channel after was cool
thanks Franz!

Pulled out my phone camera while testing this on my qn900a and realized half the videos on YouTube make it look a million times worse thru a camera vs in reality I was impressed by how well the tv handled all the star dots

While OLED is always a king in these kinds of tests I was still stunned how well my TCL C805 mini-led backlit TV with (at this time) the latest test version firmware does. Sure there is a clear difference between where the local dimmed leds are off and where they are blasting at full power around the bright spots but the panels native contrast ratio is high enough that what ever blooming/haloing there is actually looks subjectively pretty natural. I mean, its only normal that bright spots like that would illuminate its surroundings even though technically it is not part of the video. The only clear problem that I can perceive is when the zones switch from one to the other, there is a period where the brightness of the object fluctuates for a millisecond when it moves between the dimming zones. Not a problem in most real life content though.

Looking at this on my Sony X90L Full array, LED laughing at people that spent thousands of dollars on OLED. Older LEDs do have issues with blooming, but those are edge lit, the problem with OLED is you lose grays and can get burn in. Mini LED is the future.
