Don’t run through the forest hoping to just run into a place you can loot. I spent 2 hours walking through nothing but trees.

Want to turn a house alarm into a good thing? If you can run over to the oven turn it on before booking it. Zombies will go into house, and get burned up. Helps clearing up some areas.

My biggest common mistake is getting overconfident, once i get to the point where i can kill zombies reliably and can clean out some areas one single zombie doesn't seem like a threat anymore and i have places to go and want to clean the area fast so i will engage that zombie aggressively instead of waiting for it to come and fight it on my terms. I miss, it bites me and suddenly that one measly zombie killed my character.

Man, fat-fingering Q is so relatable. Glad I finally rebound the shout button recently. Also, the bathroom zombie party has to be one of the cruelest dev jokes in the game.

I actually never burnt my oven... really, never. I treat this game as roleplayroleplay so, then I check every windows, gas "neighbors" or anything that can cause fire before I walk out.

What I love so much about this game is the entirely customisable sandbox. Total fucking genius. Want an entirely chilled out start? You got it. Want a crazy start? You got it. Want a chilled out start turning into a crazy game after one night? It's yours. If only all games were like this.

My first mistake was underestimating the requirements you need to run this game

Common mistake for a lot of players is playing the game like they are the main character.
Your not immortal.
There is no reset option.
Death is final for all your stats.
Play it like every action could be your last.

Recently I realized why they choose Q as the default shout key. When you may turn the corner and get jump-scared by a zomboid and accidentally slam down your keyboard pressing Q, is the real life equivalent to screaming because you got scared.

Suggestion to make sprinting at a tall fence with bags in hand automatically drop the bags when you jump over it but pressing e will have a slower animation where your character throws the bags over the fence then hops it

I didn't think that leaving the oven on would cost so much :'D, I left it on, on purpose, fully confident, telling my friend that it's fine and nothing would go wrong. We lost everything, our items, the house, the neighbourhood and I got so many burns to the point I was limping.

My friend always brings up the oven incident 'till this day :'D good times

I've yet to actually burn a base down, but yeah, many years ago I learned about getting cut on glass the hard way.
...but as most everyone else is saying, the biggest killer is overconfidence. It's especially brutal in this game and Unreal World.

Number one killer: overconfidence. They're just shamblers, 10 of them can't be that hard to fight off at once! Yes they are, don't do it, it's stupid.

I honestly rebound my Q to avoid that issue. And if I were to add a mistake, I'd add underestimating a hoard/over estimating your ability. That's what kills me alot.

The biggest thing Lime has taught me is door flash. I don't remember the first time you used it in a video, but I started doing door flashes after watching it long ago. I remap Shout and Horn to `~ so pressing Q doesn't get me killed. So many other games use Q as an ability, strafe, or turn that my muscle memory has me pressing it without thinking.

(2:40) Say, it would make sense to be able to throw what you have in your primary and secondary hands. Just throw those bags over the fence before you climb it. I wonder if that can be suggested as a feature in game?

One mistake I see people do quite often is when running from zombies people go into buildings second floor and find themself stuck. Of course you can do that but only if littterly every entrance is blocked by zombies. Going on the second floor guarantees one of the things: death because you decided to stick to your things and broke your bone or losing a bit of loot you took.

Every mistake you listed I did on my first few runs... What made me survive from only 24 hours or less to up to 13 days or more was I gave myself the midset that "Treat this like Real Life." or "Will you do that if this was Real Life?", treating the game & doing things that I would if this happened irl really helped bring up my survival rate.

I'm so afraid of that "ignoring surroundings" one happening, so I always make sure someone comes out to watch my back, i'm paranoid of most of these happening (some of them already have) so it's funny to see others go through the same things

Staying still during multiple zombie combat is a killer
