Ren Baron Cirrus SR22T Sim Setup

Here is a look at my home flight sim setup for my Cirrus SR22T. Over the last 3 years I've looked at a number of different products from different companies. Until this past year none of them impressed me enough to buy. But that has changed with the development of some great Cirrus specific hardware and flight sim models that make now the best time ever to invest in a home sim setup. Here's what I've decided on.

Great video and great setup! The John Wayne accent was throwing me off a bit. I kept waiting for you to end a sentence with, "... in my G6, pilgrim." :D

Here’s a video I’ve been waiting for since we met at your home! I’m the guy who did the maintenance on your air conditioning. Hope you and your family are doing well!

Hey Steve - I'm a little late to the game here, but thanks for directing me here to get an idea of where I'm headed, Cirrus-education-wise. As always, thanks for your dedication to helping others be better pilots as you improve your own flying; you and Fran inspire me and my wife!

Great Cirrus sim setup! I fly an SR20 and am working on my instrument rating out of HHR and have been trying to add some items like these to my setup to up the realism a bit. I have recently started prototyping a 3D printed throttle handle that I modeled to the SR20/22 G6 specifications that replaces the small black throttle handle on the Saitek quadrant that is in both of our setups. If you’re interested in one I would happily send one to you, I found it really helpful for improving the immersion a bit.

This is cool, only about 2 weeks ago we were talking about your Sim, and now you have the video going, great job :)

Very nice setup. That cirrus stick and realsimgear stuff looks nice. I'm using the Simionics G1000 PFD and MFD...a couple of radio panels, the same throttle as you, foreflight on the ipad (this is a must-have), and a 3 monitor setup. This may interest you...I recently got an Elegato stream deck 15 button macro pad that is fabulous for launching programs or executing any hotkey command. In conjunction with that, I use voiceattack which is a voice recognition program for doing things like setting the parking brake, bringing up atc etc. or anything else you'd like to start/stop with voice. Thanks for sharing the video Ren...enjoyed it!

Just started my instrument training and I am looking to put together a similar sim setup. Looks like RealSim is the way to go. Thanks for sharing!

It’s was neat to hear you on Pilotedge today! Thanks for sharing your experiences for aspiring pilots to learn! Hope to own a cirrus someday as well. Love the sim setup. Just finished mine with Simionic G1000s and a panel from stay level avionix . A lot of awesome products out there for the sim community. Thanks again!

Hi there. I am just starting out with flying (training in an SR20) and need your help here. I do intend to go straight through earning my PPC and then Instrument rating. Does the RealSim/X-Plane/Torque Sim set up support the full suite / breadth of functionality that you use in the real world for “instrument” flying the SR? I am curious to know how much the functionality in the sim (specific to IFR) is supported - and I don’t know a better person to ask. Thanks for any response you can provide!!!

Ren-Just saw the sim set up video as I am looking to do the same thing for training. I have a G3 G1000 Perspective purchased a little over a year ago and my experience has mostly been steam gauges (Bonanza A36 w/ dual 430s and MX20) and I still feel behind the G1000 curve. Because of weather pop ups, IFR is really a part of life and I fly the system virtually 100% of the time. Would love to discuss why you went the RealSim route vs Noble flight Systems. I will be at Migration in a few weeks and would love to pick your brain in person if you are there or we could talk IRL if you have some time. Awesome set up and thank you for doing this. Best regards and Cheers!

It's wonderful. I had been an amateur pilot of SR22 G2 for ten years in Kobe, Japan.I`ll be 80 years old, next January. Though I still have a medical certificate effective, i decided to fly by simulator. For this purpose I already bought Mac Pro.But it`s difficult to get a input apparatus of SR22 like a keyboard in Japan.I wish a suggestion from Mr, Ren Baron. from Rin Iwaki

That is a great setup! I know you are probably already happy with your razer headphones but one addition you might consider is the FSX Solo adapter from flight sounds. It allows you to plug in your aviation headset to your computer. On my sim it allows me to hear foreflight notifications on my headset via bluetooth along with all the other normal sound inputs (engine sounds, atc, etc...).

Ren- great channel, subscribed. Keep the content coming!
Question for you- sounded in your video like you may have bench tested both the noble and RSG perspective solutions. Is that right? Curious what swayed you in favor of RSG?

Hey I saw you on pilotedge about two weeks ago! Love the G1000 setup here, that’s so close to the real thing especially for me flying the Diamondstar. Hope you passed the I-rating on the next try haha.

Another great video Steve. Question - does the system allow you to upload your flight plan from ForeFlight to the Garmin system like you can in the plane?

Love it! When will it support MSFT Flightsim 2020?
