I keep some of my aquariums hard and alkaline and others soft and acidic whatever the fish prefer

I struggle w what water to use. My well water has so much iron, very hard. Surrounded by fields. All our water is hooked up to a softener. The gh/kh extremely high. I use RO and have to remineralize. It’s a pain. Everything I have read said not to use water going through softener ???
