I am a solo player and 1 of these spots has a spot in my heart. I got into a messy war with a clan of 7 when they raided my sneaky bases. I found a spot near my old base that was very small, but good enough for a solo player. I had them searching for me for over 3 months and they couldnt find me.

Pvp must be harsh most of these are so high up or away from water it would be a pain to go back and forth when harvesting

I'm building all along the green wall at north. Managed to place foundations perfectly aligned with the wall {which by the way I disabled and yet you can go further than there. Basically you end up having just a spectacular view of the snowy mountains on one side and you always know where attacks will come from, looking at the other side. A pity we can't post pictures here... the effect, I cannot deny it, is very Games of Thrones. I wish I wasn't playing only in single-player mode, sharing beauty would be priceless.

I built several times on single player in the water fall cave, to my surprise when I finally played online that place was not occupied so I build there.

all the great spots are in the volcano, pretty much anywhere that is a pain in the ass to get at. really good volcano spot in by the oblisk, if u spawn at the oblisk go straight and climb the mountain edge right above the passage that leads to the outside, no one ever finds my bases there, its nasty as hell and super tuff to raid since they cant bring thralls.

Southwest corner of 5J. On top of the 3 level hill that butts up to a cliff. I usually put one there not because it would be hidden. Actually quite noticeable. But If you're playing PvE there's no worry. Close to all the resources you need to get things rolling fast. Close to: Spider cave for ichor/steel/brimstone, lots of stone at base of hill, lots of wood just across river, large iron deposit at thrall camp, coal in the river behind the ridge. I stumbled on it in my very first game and I had no idea how to play the game. Once I realized my luck at my very first base camp, things moved quick and I used all the Shaleback (with a King!) to shoot up my first 25 levels. Personally, I now use a pagoda style build (Yamati) with even a little shrine. That top level of the hill makes for a pretty large

Near the place where you can learn Yog's religion. Big, flat, with some iron ores, with mobs where you can farm hides, near water for catching fishes, lot of trees, lot of rocks, lot of plants nearby. And more - close to NPC camps where you can catch thralls.
