External hemorrhoids, which are distal/below the dentate line, are somatically innervated, and therefore are more sensitive to pain and irritation (contrary to this video). Internal hemorrhoids, on the other hand, are proximal/above the dentate line, and therefore viscerally innervation (less sensitive to pain and irritation).

Contrary to your exposition, internal haemorrhoids aren't sensitive to pain as they do not have any sensory nerve endings where as external haemorrhoids are painful because they have sensory nerve endings.
And you haven't even mentioned the treatment of external haemorrhoids. Blah blah blah.

I'm 68. I have had an external hemorrhoid for my entire adult life. It has never bothered me. I asked my PC if I should have it removed and he said exactly what you did. So thanks for reaffirming.

What can we do if we have had chronic diarrhea and that is causing the external hemorrhoids to flare up and swell up.? Also there is a hard one there that pokes out when I have a couple of irritating watery bowel movements. I don’t want to go to a doctor.
