Being a doctor is like standing in a room where everyone is on fire including yourself...but you are also the firefighter and everyone is yelling HELP. Mind you, you are expected to put out the fires on very little sleep, make no mistakes and also ignore yourself.

The problem is this; HOSPITAL CEOS AND LEADERS HAVE GOTTEN SO GREEDY IN THE USA THAT THEY SHORT STAFF EVERYONE AND RISK PATIENT SAFETY SO THAT THEY CAN LINE THEIR POCKETS WITH MORE MONEY, AND ENJOY THEIR THREE OR FOUR VACATION HOMES!! Look at the CEO pay and leadership pay at your local hospital and you will understand!

I'm shocked that the exclusively governtment-run NHS doesn't respect it's physicians. You mean if we socialize medicine, the government is going to cut our pay and working conditions so it can save money?

Tbh. I've realized becoming a doctor was my biggest mistake ever.

My brain surgeon talked about this to me. He was just finishing his residency and he was talking about if it was worth it. I was talking about I had missed my chance of becoming a Doctor because of being bipolar so he felt comfortable sharing it with me.

My moment of realization was when all my highschool girlfriends were married and pregnant, while I was dealing with covid pandemics and postcovid PTSD. I could afford a place to live only by chance when government was paying extra for working in covid units. When I stopped working 250hrs/month and without gov bonuses, I could barely afford mortgage and payments.

Litigation was an additional problem. I realized I can loose everything every moment, law in Poland is only worsening for doctors. All this while, thanks to inflation and costs of living, I can't afford a new car anymore. Money is ok but it's not enough to hold someone's life in my hands.

Medicine is totally overhyped.

Seeing so many doctors regret becoming a doctor is scary, it was because of ER doctors that i safely made it through afib twice, at 23 and 28. Currently 32 now and lost over 100 pounds and gained 10 pounds of muscle.

But it’s always doctors from the UK. they’re (doctors) not quitting as often in the US. They’re simply not being paid enough in the UK.

On top of the rest of these issues, perhaps a certain mandate was pushed that a lot of health care professionals knew was not a good idea…

There is, and I include myself in this, a significant number of well-prepared IMGs who have passed the USMLE steps and are eager to enter the system, including many with specialties (like me) and experience, ready to be retrained. However, there seems to be very little interest from the medical boards in offering more positions.

These are majority Doctors from the UK. Is this the same for doctors from the US?

Doctors ultimately have to solve the problems that come to them big and small, and there sure are a lot of problems pushed up the chain these days.

I honestly don't understand why there is so much burn out. I'm an emt. I see everything er doctors do. We get paid far less. We have to work nights holidays. I personally think people need to remember why we came into this field. I strive everyday to help out my fellow citizens. Sometimes u need to sacrifice to achieve something greater.

I just don’t want someone who isn’t in practising as a nurse or a doctor to talk to me about the nursing or doctor’s work. I mean if a doctor ain’t practicing - what kind of doctor he/she is ? Well -
