I consider commuting unpaid work. Packing my lunch, getting clothes ready, and spending 1.5 hrs a day in my car is such a waste of time and money. I get 2 hours a day back working at home now. I used that time to exercise and eat better. I feel 10X better after a year of this routine. Bonus, working in natural light makes me squint less and my eyes don't hurt after a day of work like they did in the cubicle farm.

Customers have become a problem in the service industry. People eat at fast food restaurants and mock people for a low wage job etc. Be nice or learn to cook.

Women have also figured out that going to work and putting kids in daycare is not worth it. When you consider daycare, transportation, eating lunch out, and clothing costs, most don't come out that far ahead. In addition, they're too tired after work to cook and do house chores and they have concluded, it's just not worth it. The CV has had profound effects on the world beyond the sickness.

The Covid quarantine taught us that we can be much happier with a lot less.

"The idea was; we measured work by the time we could imprison you". Slavery my guy.

Expecting perpetually abundant and cheap labor isn't a business plan.
It's ignorance on paper.

During the pandemic I realized I could save a surprising amount of money by eating at home, making my own coffee (haven’t been in Starbucks in almost a year), not commuting, not paying for dry cleaning or “office clothes.” Now that they’re thinking of bringing us back, there’s no way I’m going on the jam-packed subway and expose myself to some “variant” of COVID. I’ll figure out how to do something else to support myself rather than office work.

When the job that I got multiple degrees and worked unpaid internships for does not pay better than a warehouse job.... next! I am trapped in a terrible apartment with room mates and need better pay to become unstuck. So, I got a better paying job in a warehouse and couldn't be happier with my choice. My colleagues are shocked! "You have a BA and you are HERE!? WHAT are you doing here!?" Ummmm.... "Earning a better paycheck for a few years until I figure out the next step." Bought land recently ;) Keep demanding better!!!

The title should be "People are fed up with the dead end jobs that don't pay a liveable wages"

On a path away from wage slavery. Love to see it. Let’s hope this privilege can be more equally distributed.

Entering into the workplace about 6 years ago now, had to face bunch of boomers who criticized my generation for basically being us. Look how the table has turned :)

More and more companies are struggling to stay in business because the world has changed for the better. Corporate greed is old news and employees are simply not playing that game any longer. There is way too much opportunity out there for people where they can discover remote jobs and companies who are SMART instead of greedy will play that game too. If you are a company that is controlling and forces employees to come to an office for no reason then good luck with that. Careful! Be nice and treat talented employees as adults and pay them for a job well done and both sides are happy.

...sometimes the costs that come with keeping a job exceeds what the job pays. This means there is no monetary incentive to work there. Zero profit motive. A lot of employers try to compensate for this by trying to pretend they are your ''friend'' and will pull the ''friendship'' card to keep you around. Then when you quit anyway they become enraged and screw you out of your last paycheck and will never give you a good job reference. This is part of the new business model. My strategy is to use employers like toilet paper, then flush them down the toilet by quitting without giving them any kind of notice. After all, they are allowed to lay off employees without notice. I have basically flipped things around on them, and each and every employer I have had over the years absolutely despises because I got the best of them, instead of the other way around

This is what happened in the 60's and guess what? A couple years later 90% were right back where they were only in a lower position for less money.

These people may all work, but it's virtual work. There still has to be boots on the ground making stuff, repairing stuff and running the machines.

Clickbait. They're not resigning from the workforce, just from their current jobs to move on to something they see as better.
