As the West scrambles to move away from Russian energy sources and imposes sanctions on Moscow, China and India have stepped in to fill the gap. WSJ examines how those countries have boosted Russia’s revenue from oil sales, supporting its economy.

I'm Russian. And to be honest, we love India. Plunging into the past, you can remember a lot: Indira Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, Afanasy Nikitin (who reached India on foot) and most importantly, the languages of Sanskrit and Old Slavonic are like one language. Russians and Indians are brothers separated in time and space.

They can't do anything to China, but I highly applaud India to be able to make such a decision despite west's heavy influence. This is truly remarkable. Just gives you an idea how far the west has gone down since their days of "ultimate power" in 90s. Good job India!

If India and China also stop buying from Russia and start competing for middle east oil, price will rise more than $250/barrel. Millions will die in poor countries because of inflated prices of food and energy.

India and China are doing favor to the world by maintaining stable oil prices.

As an Indian, I'm delighted we could help Russia. Although I do wish we could do more, like Germany, they're buying the most oil from Russia. So Germany helped Russia more than India.
