We take a look at the history of the relationship between China and India, and why things have been going downhill recently, despite showing tentative signs of improvement only a few years ago.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

2:01 Arunachal Pradesh is not just administered by India its a PART of India. It has never been disputed before until 2024 when outta nowhere China decided that an entire state is now theirs.

New Low ? We already know they hate each other guts . A few years back, they hosted a mortal kombat tournament in Hymalayas.

I mean, occupying and claiming India's lands wouldn't lead to better relations, would it?

I mean is it really that surprising ? They literally have skirmishes where their troops beat each other with sticks and rocks every couple of months in their border

You’ve got the Bhutan situation. You’ve got Vietnam situation. You’ve got the India situation. It’s just everywhere. It’s a major land grab for China.

India is holding the line against China and Pakistan. Much respect for the Indians for that!

India: "Taiwan is pretty dope."
China: "How DARE you, sir!"

doesn’t falling out imply that the two were "in" at some point? When?

It’s relative. They’ve never been at historical highs, with permanent disputes over Kashmir and even Tibet.

Then there was the 2020 border skirmishes which cost 20+ Indian soldiers lives and the outrageous territorial claims by the CCP last year in their controversial map. Oh and the String of Pearls strategy aimed to helm India in navally doesn’t help.

These 2 aren’t going to improve until the CCP stops abusing its regional hegemonic aspirations which is alienating everyone around it including India. That’s why despite its strategic autonomy, India is deepening its engagement with QUAD and I2U2.

Basic IR Theory: the US has been trying to ‘pull’ India closer but India likes its independence. What’s changed now is China’s behaviour ‘pushing’ India to make these significant foreign policy shifts.

The US beating Pakistan in Cricket probably helped India's view of the US a bit.

Its Indo Tibet border. Not Indo china border. china invaded and captured the entire Tibet in the 50s and then after falsely assuring India that they have nothing to worry about, they suddenly launched a surprise attack and captured aksai chin. India that time had an extremely weak and dumb leader called nehru, who did not allow Indian airforce to intervien which would have made the chinese run away in terror. And that is why ladies and gentlemen, you need strong nationalist and smart leaders.

Is it really "falling out" if there never was much of a relationship to begin with?

I am from China, this conflict is so dumb. No matter how important the media paints the region, I genuinely do not see a point in fighting over some random mountains and a few villages. China and India has lived in peace fore literal THOUSANDS of years and had no beef with each other until the BR*TISH showed up. Both countries are just not seeing the vision of how much better geopolitically speaking if China and India are not enemies.

It's kinda bit understandable, not gonna lie, two of the most populated countries coming together is bit scary. Developers really addresses that issue
