00:00 Why the Hirajoshi is so moving?
03:03 In the C major scale why B is the seventh note and not B flat?
04:28 Is the Ab a borrowed chord from the C minor scale? Or is it something else?
09:06 Why is it that guitar players refer to the strings and fret position as opposed to the string and note when explaining fingering of cords?

I always appreciate more knowledge on borrowing, just to acclimate my ears. Thanks, TZ!

I don’t often comment but that’s a great video as always! Very enjoyable format of content, without dreadful amounts of information but instead, precise answers of high quality provided on various topics. Keep up the good work man :)

Thanks dude, you've helped me a lot over the years learning music theory as a weekend warrior.

(1) The flat 6 major chord (Ab in C major) shows up in most of Suede's songs.

(2) The progression Fmaj7-Ab7-G7 contains a descending chromatic line: A-Ab-G as well, which Fmaj7-D7-G7 doesn't have.

(3) 09:19 Fret numbers are also useful, because when you play a chord on the guitar (without open strings), the strings are all fretted at more or less the same place. Human hands simply cannot hold down a string on the 3rd fret and another on the 10th fret, for instance.

(4) 09:50 Or you could play the G at the 24th fret. 8-) And then of course, there are the harmonics ...

If you don’t mind. Can you please make a video about Barry Harris 6th Diminished Scale in Major and Minor version.

Great informative video, thanks! Your tuner (on the headstock) caught my attention since I had the exact same one, same color too. Its external rubbery plastic became over time very sticky and would come off on you hand when I touched it!… horrible product…

Something's bugging me : is the fretboard of the guitar you use in this video scalloped or is it a play of light ?

When refering to the intervals in a scale shouldn't you refer to the '11th' interval as a minor 7th and not dominant 7th? Is this a descriptor only for chords or are both acceptable? I only ask for clarification! :) love your videos

I've been watching and influenced by your videos for some time now. I've developed a committed four part one hour daily practice routine (which I stubbornly avoided for the first 50 years of my guitar playing) based on some of your ideas and teaching methods. I believe you consider how one learns when you develop your lessons and your "learn all the notes on the fretboard" is one I follow to the letter. I'd like to meet you and book a Zoom lesson. Do you offer Zoom lessons?

Am I missing something here? I was always told the scale goes like this:
1, 2, 3b, 5, 6b
