Is there a way to adjust your CPU's clock speed even if it has a locked multiplier - other than manually tweaking the base clock?

Intel: "Buy our unlocked chips for overclocking!"

Also Intel: "Overclocking voids your warranty!"

Intel: Implements XMP
Also Intel: "Enabling XMP voids you warranty!"

I'm getting mixed signals here...

I feel bad for thinking it was pronounced "Ass-rock" the last 20 years

I recently killed my i3-540 while playing with the base clock.... I had to fork over $4 (free shipping) to upgrade to an i3-550.

Short answer: no
Longer answer: yes
Detailed answer: yes but actually no
Full answer: why don't you just watch the full video instead of searching for answer here?

i love how you showed the i5 6500. i got mine up to 4ghz from 3.2ghz on a msi z170a pc mate mobo (only lga1151 that microcenter still has). just had to downgrade the bios to the 2016 version and adjust the voltage. and yeah, its surprisingly stable

Just remember, overclocking an overclockable chip will void your warranty

This is exactly the video I've been needing for months. November last year, I bought an i5 9400f (locked) and for some reason, hooked it up to a 240mm aio. As nice as never breaking 45 degrees is, a bit more speed will be nice.

AMD:
"I'm sorry, but is this sort of a *Greedy* joke that I'm to *wise* to understand?"

In addition, things like the x99 turbo boost glitch allowed you to take single core turbos and make rhem all core turbos, so even 22nm x99 xeons like the e5 2620v3 can be found for 18 bucks and "OC"s to 3ghz across all 6 cores, and has cheap knock off boards for as little as 60 bucks with ddr4 quad channel mem.
