Robert always sounds so specific and broad at the same time. Love it.

I used to scrape by in life gaming and escaping into fake realities. Now I work hard, have a long term stable relationship and the best familial relations I've had in years. I let go of my need to exist within virtual worlds and embraced the real. As a result I'm fitter, more attractive, more confident, wealthier, more driven, and I get good feedback from all I do because I simply make that my focus now, not Minecraft, Xbox, Fanfiction, Films, .daydreams about people or places I'm not in at present. If I can do it everyone can, it's a whole way of being.

This is why I minimize social media use nowadays. Too much distraction from reality.

So true. I’m someone who regularly resorts to my imagination when certain events in my life are coming up. And when I go to these events and it doesn’t fit my imaginative expectation..I get disappointed. I want to learn how to live in reality and not my imagination.

There's only so much beauty in a reality of living paycheck to paycheck.

Fantasy is not all negative...It's where we practice our thoughts and reality...to see what is true...
That is the function of imagination...
Creating reality...is what unfolds...what we want to live into....

I would say that fantasy is a coping mechanism. If we are honest, coping with life and the reality of it, can feel unbearable at times. We want to feel better, we want to feel happy. So in the short term, it is absolutely necessary, but in the long term is a no brainer. There is a lot of pain amd trauma in life. I know from personal experience.

I told my son the same word, he didn't listen. But I'm so glad he ordered your books Robert.

Unfortunately, a great fantasy is the best that most of us will have.

This actually changed my life in a huge way. Robert's books completely changed how I view life but this one clip really made me reevaluate my life.

Fantasy is an escape if your reality sucks. Sometimes, no matter how much energy or effort is put into changing the reality, it remains the same. It's our lot in life and life is unfair. Fantasy is the only thing left (I don't mean drugs and addictions, just plain old imagination)

Another layer to that problem is that reality too is filtered by our experiences with media, such that the perception itself becomes distorted into a comparing ugliness. We don’t have a grounded sense of reality to see it’s true wonder and beauty because we are buffered.

I love this man!! He doesn't talk garbage; he talks about real things; that is what many people need today. Bless you Robert!

I learn from fantasy and implement & follow it into reality. Both are so important for me. I love fantasy because it gives me inspiration, reasons to live, and ideals for which i will live and love reality because it's very beautiful and a place where i practice ideals & everything i learn. But deep down, i feel like i belong to that fantasy. My heart lives in fantasy (stories, art & Anime), but my life is rooted in reality.

Preach it Robert, gold is forged in the fire. I walked through the forest yesterday, rejoiced and thought of you. As you reminded us how fabulous it is Do this without struggle, 1000 miracles a day! ❤

Our ability to fantasise is what makes us special compared to other creatures. People who write fictional books, make movies and video games often fantasise. Me personally, my imagination is where I find peace.

What is important in life is subjective

I have a partial disability and sometimes it makes it so I cannot go out and do things. Of course I get out there as much as I can when I can and live it up, but when I am stuck on the couch I am so thankful that I have a fantasy world to go live through for a spell until I am well again. I also have amazing, vivid, lucid dreams that are often full stories. I love that although I can no longer physically run, jump, dance ballet, and do many of the things I used to enjoy before I was injured, I can at least do these things again in my dreams while I sleep. I wouldn't be able to make it through the rough spats if I didn't have an active fantasy life in my case.

Real is best, but fantasy is a good second when schizz happens. But I know what type of unhealthy fantasy he is talking about. Robert means the type of fantasy that stops real living adventures that could have and should have been. He is also talking about people denying their reality and situation that are deluding themselves instead of seeing it for what it is and thus handling the situation more appropriately.

The boredom of school as a child & growing up, I spent a lot of time day dreaming. I'm probably not the only one with the same experience
