One of the legendary Norm Macdonald’s live performances on Saturday Night Live, back when it was actually good.

The reoccurring segment is called Weekend Update, and is full of hilarious little gems. Norm regularly shit on OJ to the point the higher ups at the parent company told him to stop…

He refused to and was let go.

Rest in peace to Norm Macdonald (1959-2021) one of the funniest people to ever walk the face of the earth.

If you’d like to see more Norm content, a channel called “I’m not Norm” reuploads a lot of his old content and there’s a podcast called “Norm Macdonald LIVE”.

In the depths of Hell, the air crackled with heat, and shadows flickered like dancing flames. Norm Macdonald and O.J. Simpson found themselves trudging through the infernal wasteland, a landscape so bleak and fiery it could wilt the spirit of any man. Yet, amidst the despair, Norm cracked a wry smile, his humor unscathed.

"Ya know, O.J., " Norm said, eyeing the relentless expanse, "I always thought if I ended up in Hell, it'd at least have a golf course."

O.J., who had been scanning the horizon, chuckled. "Norm, if they had a golf course, I bet you'd still complain about your handicap."

Their banter was a thin veil over the gravity of their predicament. They were here for their misdeeds, real or imagined, and the path out was uncertain. But Norm had a plan, one as audacious as it was risky.

"So, I heard this rumor, " Norm started, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, "that if we can make Lucifer laugh, he might just let us out of here."

O.J. raised an eyebrow. "You're telling me we're going to try and crack jokes to the Devil himself?"

"Exactly!" Norm exclaimed. "I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? We’re already in Hell."

With a resigned sigh and a shrug, O.J. agreed, and they set off to find the Prince of Darkness. Their journey took them across boiling rivers and past screaming souls, each eerie wail a reminder of their possible eternal fate.

Finally, they reached a grand palace made of bones and ash. Standing before them was Lucifer, his presence as commanding as the stories foretold. He regarded the pair with icy amusement.

"And what do fools such as yourselves seek in my domain?" Lucifer's voice was like the crack of thunder, reverberating through the fiery pits.

Norm stepped forward, wiping sweat from his brow. "Well, sir, we thought we might entertain you with some humor. If you laugh, maybe you could consider... letting us go?"

Lucifer smirked. "Entertain me then. Make me laugh, and I’ll consider your request."

Norm glanced at O.J., who nodded slightly. Clearing his throat, Norm delivered a line so perfectly timed that even the stoic guards snickered. "I once told a joke so bad, they kicked me out of purgatory for ruining the ambiance."

Lucifer's lips twitched, but he did not laugh. O.J. took his turn, a smooth story-spinner from his days in the spotlight. "You know, I used to run from the cops, now I’m running from demons. I guess my fitness plan never changes."

This time, Lucifer's smirk widened, and a low chuckle escaped his lips. The chuckle grew into a deep, hearty laugh, echoing across the vast halls.

"You two are truly desperate to use humor as your weapon, " Lucifer said, wiping a tear from his eye. "Very well, your audacity and resilience have earned you a chance. Leave Hell and take this lesson back: Even in the darkest places, a light-hearted spirit can be your greatest ally."

Norm and O.J. could hardly believe their ears, but they didn't hesitate. As they walked back through the gates of Hell, which slowly closed behind them, Norm muttered, "Well, that was easier than getting canceled in Hollywood."

O.J. laughed, shaking his head. "Let’s just hope we don’t end up back here."

Together, they stepped back into the world, the memory of Hell’s heat lingering, but overshadowed by their unlikely triumph through laughter.

Well, when the news broke out a year or so ago that Norm Macdonald was dead, the first thought in everyone's mind was, "Where was O.J. that night?"

I always admired Norm’s guts for calling O.J. out for the murderer he was. RIP Norm - unlike OJ, you are greatly missed.😢

My favourite is, "OJ has said that he would take a bullet or stand in front of a train for Nicole. Well that's some bad luck when the one guy who would die for you, kills you."

The biggest mistake SNL ever made was letting him go.
