I really appreciate you posting this - I'm in the same boat, especially as a new dad. Being fortunate and actually having paternity leave has really shown me that I loathe my day job, I just have this overwhelming feeling of how meaningless it is. I really enjoy working in Blender and know that I can make it my full time gig so that not only do I have more time with my family, but, when I am working, I actually enjoy it.
