As a kid I thought he was just the bad guy, as an adult I understood his motivations

Norman: "Do you know how much I sacrificed?"

The board: "We missed the part where that's our problem."

Two decades later with adulthood under my belt, he's a sympathetic character.

This scene scared me as a kid, especially when Norman yelled, but now as an adult I really see what's going on, Dafoe is an amazing Actor.

I think it was the look on that guy's face near the end when he said "You're out, Norman" that pushed him over the edge and gave him that motivation to kill the board members. Maybe he would have still killed them, but maybe he would have been able to suppress the Goblin if he'd been convinced it was just a business move and they really didn't bear any ill will to him (not that it isn't still fucked). But that guy's demeanor at the end looked almost spiteful, like he enjoyed giving Norman the news that they'd basically destroyed the last however many decades of his life and had no empathy for him at all. When he saw the look on his face, he definitely wanted to kill him specifically

I’m a business owner, and every time I see this scene it reminds me to never let the majority of stock into the hands of others especially people I don’t trust. This is a weird way to learn a lesson but it’s always stuck with me
