If you don't live too far from the subway, in Montreal, you can go out shoping, see movies, eat any meal, see shows and walk around all day without a coat, even if it's -25 degrees outside. For a long time after they finished building the underground city, downtown seemed relatively empty outside. Not the case anymore today. You have to just hang around the underground city to even be able to imagine what it is. It's truly never ending.

There is underground facilities in the United States also but not many know about them or all of their Locations they are meant for Government officials in the event of a nuclear war while the rest of us good citizens die basically it's pretty sad!

Derinkuyu is my most favorite of all. Located in the district of Nevşehir Province, Turkey. This was a massive brilliant undertaking. I would so much love to visit, find a spot and just try and imagine what life must have been like.
The rest are amazing as well, but Derinkuyu is by far the most amazing for me.

Underground cities and dwellings seem like a good idea in many areas.

Thank you

Those tunnels weren't built to keep people out, they were built to protect people from catastrophes

Mary Star . Derinkuyu, Turkey ....Yes, is the most amazing 1 for me too. How incredible to imagine families, a community leaving there. Us, Human being, we r becoming physically and mentally weaker and weaker. We don’t know anymore how to build, to create, to survive in the natural world.

The shelters are for Government people and "Royal" family. No one else is worthy of saving! LOLOL This cannot be the way of the world, if it really is this horrible, stop and let me off now!

"Reso" was the name added to the Montreal underground city in 2004 Most Montrealer's call it the underground It is not just used in winter to keep warm But also in the summer heat And because most Montrealer's live near a subway (Metro) Getting to the Underground is simple ...However Toronto Also has a Underground city. (Toronto 27kms Vs Montreal 32kms) Montreal’s RESO has several several disconnected areas while Toronto’s "PATH" is constantly connected. Toronto’s PATH is the longest continuous system. And you can access the PATH system from cities Outside of Toronto from Buses/Subway without ever having to touch snow Technically You could fly from anywhere in the world And end up in the underground city without doing the same As the Buses from Pearson (Toronto) Airport has services to pick you up from a sheltered area And drop you off at the subway system (sheltered) And the path is connected to the subway line ..No need to buy a over priced winter jacket at the airport

Seattle? Was I in an underground city there; or did I just tell myself I was? Pretty sure I was. Those were blurry, melty, lost days indeed.

Long as your solid and waterproof its actually the best place to live.
Below grade temp stays pretty constantly cool. Being underground your also avoiding most all the bad weathers above.
