Please watch: "Chop Saw / Router Table Combo for UNDER $100!!"
Using one if these is a great fast way to rid your landscape of pesky weeds! I got it from Harbor Freight Tools for $19.99. I recommend spraying week killer and let them die out for a few days before unless you only have a few live weeds.

Have been using one of these for years now. A tank (20lb) of propane will go a long way. Also best idea is to use it while it is raining or right after to 1) prevent ground fire run away and 2) "steam cook" the roots and any seed droppings. Be very careful using flame around the house, this video is about as close as I would want to get. Remember the flame will shoot through any cracks an light up anything on the other side... It's like 3000 degrees. Awesome for rock beds, gravel driveways, fence lines and under hedges (with practice and while raining)

PLEASE HAVE YOUR GARDEN HOSE TURNED ON AND NEARBY AT ALL TIMES! I used a small propane blow torch to kill weeds and grass around planters. I was really on a roll until I came too close to a nearby juniper bush (very flammable apparently), one caught on fire and within seconds I had a huge fire. Luckily my neighbors were watching (probably wondering what the heck I was up to now) and ran out and helped me extinguish the flames as their hose was much closer to the situation than mine. I lost a good portion of our shared juniper bushes but luckily our houses didn't ignite. Oops..

20% Vinegar is just as effective as RoundUp and 100% environmentally friendly. Look into it when you have a chance. It can be purchased online.

You were bored and wanted to attack weeds with fire, I don't blame you

You are way, way overdoing it.  The point isn't to burn them to ash right away, it's to wilt them - this indicates cellular structure breakdown, that weed is now a goner.  Can be done in much., much less time and without discoloring the rock or impacting any weed control underlay.  Another vid on here has a guy doing it on weeds right next to a top plastic barrier and not melting the plastic.

Someone said all you need to do is wilt them but I have been charing mine and the dandelions still keep coming back. I am not having a lot of luck with my weed torch on any of the weeks I have been trying to kill.

Would this be a bad idea to use on a really old garden with small rocks that has weeds growing, but originally had a weed barrier fabric put down that failed? Concern is there was barrier fabric put down many moons ago you can see in some places but most of it has accumulated a ton of dirt on top of it facilitating weed growth even more so

Good job! Now you will have many more weeds grow even faster now that you torched the plastic weed liner under the rocks too!

Can you use the torch to kill dormant sand burs before planting zoysia grass?

What about on lawn? I've been using round up and pulling weeds and they keep growing back. I'm a afraid if I use this burner on the lawn the whole thing will catch fire.

you should have a water hose on and close by when torching.. best with 2 people. one holding water hose.
keep pets away, especially dogs as they might run into flame or hot area and burn feet.

Yeah, I think I'd just spray me some glyphosate (40-50% concentrate stuff off eBay or wherever on the cheap) on those and be done with it.

As a homeowner, I generally just pick up some of the stuff that Walmarks offers while I'm in there - Eliminator or Eradicator or whatever it's called - I think it's around a 40% concentrate.

I've only come across one grassy weed in my life that was resistant to glyphosate, and I don't think that blowtorch would've killed that stuff.
