8 Ways Pregnancy Is Different In Your 40s 😱

I am 43 years old and I’m 34 weeks pregnant with my third child. Whew! And, I gotta say, pregnancy in 40s is a little bit different that it was in my 30s.

Pregnant in your 40s: The Good, Bad & Ugly
Please hear my heart: I don't want to add to the cacophony of voices out there that speak to how hard it is to be pregnant in your 40s. Or how it's high-risk, geriatric, crazy, dangerous, rare, impossible and on and on.

Women have been giving birth in their forties for hundreds and hundreds of years. They call it "Geriatric pregnancy" whether you're pregnant at age 35 or pregnant at age 40, pregnant at age 41, pregnant at age 42, and so on.

Yes, women can give birth much later than in their 30's! But, it doesn't always mean it is easier.

And that is the tension: I want to be encouraging but I also want to be real with you. My pregnancy in 40s is different than the ones in my 30s; and I think it's important to be honest in the journey and not sugar-coat the experience. This would be doing a disservice to my fellow mamas!

Overall, I have had a fantastic, normal, low-risk pregnancy. I am able to function each day. I can get things done. My life is manageable. But I have had to make some adjustments along the way that I didn't have to make with my pregnancies before. AND IT'S BEEN TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I am confident that there are some 40+ women out there who feel absolutely amazing being pregnant and are energized by the whole experience. Don't think that just because you are in your 40s and pregnant, your experience will be like mine. We are all so unique!

I wanted to share my experience in case it helps a mama who may be struggling or feel like it's extra hard. While it has been more intense to be pregnant in 40s, I would do it again in a heartbeat. The gift of this new life is beyond my wildest dreams!

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING AND SUBSCRIBING!

I literally just found out I’m pregnant about an hour ago, I’m 42 and will be 43 when I give birth. I went on YouTube to do a search for women in their 40s that are pregnant. And this was so helpful! Especially hearing that you’re a believer that is even more reassuring. Children are blessings! And I am going to enjoy this last and final baby!!

I'm 47 and 8 weeks pregnant very unexpected. I'm so happy and prepared for what life throws at me. I have a 25 and 23 year old. I thought I was premenopausal. Surprise surprise. My husband is 58. He was really surprised. Best luck to all.

I just found out I'm pregnant and I'm 45, 46 in a few months. I'm exhausted and bloated, but happy and confident. It might be more difficult at my age, but I have extra motivation to be as healthy as I can be.

Im 40 (turning 41 in a couple weeks) and 32 weeks pregnant. This is my first so i have nothing to compare this pregnancy to. I feel more tired than before i was pregnant, but everyone around me is saying im having an easy pregnancy. I was barely nauseous and am still able to walk lots and do yoga. I passed all my tests and even opted out of additional testing. So far so good and i am over the moon - i can't wait until i meet the baby in my dreams.

Best geriatric pregnancy video out there! There are so many fear inducing videos on Youtube. Thank you so much for this encouragement! Yes, it's so important to stay positive and pray. Your book was such a treat to me during my first pregnancy. I had a whole ritual where I would sit down quietly every week to read a chapter and I was just so in love with it.

I just found out I’m 5 weeks and 3 days. I’m 42 and trying not to worry. I just want a healthy baby. I have 4 children. Youngest is 8yrs old. Oldest is 25. This is my fiancés first child. I’m so blown away. Took 5 test all showed immediately I couldn’t believe it. I’m a lil scared, but I’m so friggin happy.

Thanks for this video! Next month I’ll be 41, I am 29 weeks pregnant with my first child, and I am loving it! I am grateful everyday, not taking anything for granted, and taking care of myself a lot—this has probably helped overcome some of the pains and burdens of pregnancy… I have passed all my tests and feel very good and energized most of the time… knowing my lifestyle when I was 20 and how it is right now, I think I’m probably healthier now.

Wow thank you Queen for this video, I'm 43 and just found out I'm pregnant with my 3rd child and it wasn't planned nor expected lol. But I'm looking at it as a blessing, God makes no mistakes and he must have a plan so I'm going to hang in there and stay in prayer. I know you've had your baby being this video is like 5yrs old so I'm sending you and your family tons of hugs and blessings❤❤❤❤

Hey there! I’m 39 now but I’ll turn 40 in a few days, this is my first pregnancy ever so I can’t make comparisons. Older people think I’m crazy but my doctor says I’m the best patient ever! I make all the tests, I care about taking test results to different specialists so they can check results in a different picture. I guess 40’s bring along a huge pack of life experience that makes the hole difference.
I do feel tired all the time as well and my concentration is off for everything else but the family!
Thanks for the video, I hope I can become a great mom as you seem to be! Kisses!!!

I am 43 and 8 weeks pregnant. My son is currently 14 years old. This pregnancy has so far been hard compared to my first when I was younger. My nausea is over the moon, I am constantly nauseas, I mean 24/7. My body feels extremely drained even with taking all the supplements and shakes, I am still drained. I eat healthy and do not over eat but my weight has picked up tremendously.

I am very happy and blessed by being pregnant but it is a total different 'ball game' I highly recommend having children when you are younger. My husband is super excited and luckily for me he has been getting all the cravings so far and been eating like he has no end.

I just wish all the ladies over 40 good luck and if you have my extreme way out pregnancy symptoms, hold on as we are extremely blessed.

I gave birth to my 3rd child at 45……. He’s turning 3 in November….. I gave birth naturally, no complications. He has exceeds all his milestones….. He’s very smart, his older siblings referred to him as an ancestor😂😂😂😂I was really worried during my pregnancy, but I’m just grateful.

I am 42, my baby is comming in 1 week. This pregnancy has been harder. My first war when I was 25. I have never been so tired in my entire life! It has sucked the life out of me. I could not eat proteins at all. No eggs, meat, ...it made me sick just thinking of it. I was hot as well, I was pregnant in winter.

Thank you for sharing this feelings that helpful to me. I am 44 and having my second baby in the week 25, luckily I don’t need to work this time so maybe that’s why I’m not feeling really tired. But I do eat less proteins compared to my first pregnancy, I eat more fruits and vegetables this time and cut off coffee totally, very little sugar intake because I had high pressure at my first pregnancy so I’m very careful with controlling more this time. Well, I feel blessed even there were much more symptoms than last time because I have my lovely son who cares me and my baby this time 🥹. Wish all of you have a healthy and safety pregnancy ❤

Great video! 40 and pregnant here, everything you’ve said is so relatable… the hot flushes my gosh and the fatigue. I’m 14 weeks and still exhausted with morning sickness still lurking around! But very thankful and grateful ❤
