I don't understand where in part e, you said that because BO is -b that means MX has no a's in it?

Sir, I understand its alot easier to think of MB as half AB but why is it that when I try going up from M to A (MA = 3/2a) followed by from A to O (-3a) and then from O to B 
(OB=b) I 3/2a-3a+b which is -3/2a + b is different from what you got eventhough it would have been the same starting point and destination..
