I honestly don't care if this isn't the like the comics, there was never a definitive origin story for him (unless you count the Killing Joke) as long as we get a good movie it doesn't matter.

I dont think Batman not being here is a "Missed Opportunity". I think it leaves us to build our own interpretation of the continuing story depending on how the movie ends. This is not gonna be part of any universe or have any sequals. Just a 1 off which I think is great. Not everything needs a universe or sequel. Just 1 good, artistic movie.

The first time he was on the show was from an audition tape he sent in. It was probably recorded during that scene with Zazie Beatz in the trailer at that empty comedy theater.

Origin story of the joker makes me feel as excited as Darth Vader origin in Star Wars. about the movie. Also excited by the picture and cinematography they built. We will never watch Joker the same way, insight

It may sound like a horrible theory, but what if he's only SEEING people with clown masks when in reality they're not actually wearing them? like an illusion type thing. Seeing everyone laughing is what he wanted in the comics and such, right? I also noticed how at 8:09 you imply it's Bruce who could possibly be BATMAN in this verse. What if in this alternate timeline, where things are obviously extremely different, he kills Bruce instead? and Thomas becomes Batman? Kinda like a flashpoint feeling.
