Christianity isn’t about scaring you or ignoring this life in favor of the next. It’s about telling the truth. If you do these things then you are hurting yourself now and you will not be welcome in Heaven after you die. If you ask for God’s forgiveness AND STRIVE TO BE A BETTER PERSON then you WILL live a happier life now and in Heaven. People keep choosing to see it as fear mongering and “you just don’t want us to have fun”. The 10 Commandments aren’t rules to keep us from having a good time, they are rules to prevent us from hurting ourselves and others. A parent tells their kid not to eat too many cookies because too many cookies will make the kid sick, not because they don’t want to see the kid happy. You sleep around, you feel good for a little bit but then later you feel drained, used, like you’re missing something, lost something. You lie, the consequences come for you later anyway and it’s so much worse because of the lying. You kill somebody, duh! You killed somebody! Christianity isn’t about scaring people or any of that nonsense. It’s about trying to help each other be better people so we can all enter the Kingdom of God and be truly happy in His love and grace.
