If you've ever wondered how these two things are different I can tell you. Programming and scripting really aren't all that different from one another from a terminology standpoint. How people think is a much more complicated question.

_I'm the programmer, I'm the real programmer and other programmers are just scripters, so won't the real programmer please stand up, please stand up, please stand up..._

so in summary, scripts are programs that are run at runtime, its interpreted by another program versus being compiled into zeros and ones.

True words. This industrie has big issues with naming things. Makes it much harder to understand this Part of the universe. Great video.

Funny thing is both C# and Java are not even fully compiled languages. Java is compiled to byte code and then interpreted but the JVM and C# follows the same model.

Me on a daily basis: "Yeah I'm like a coding scripter who utilizes programming".

Hmmm. Very interesting questions here. I think the terminology that we use has been influenced by developers having to convey their thoughts to people that are not developers. I have found that people that have been writing code for longer tend to flop between what they call things depending on who they are talking to. I'm fairly new to programming (I would say), but I do it sometimes as well. In other studies, I'm not sure that this happens much. When would a particle physicist have to explain what a particle accelerator is to their sponsor or someone outside of the field; I think those are rare occasions lol.
Also, I personally hate the idea of trying to make someone else's achievements seem less important by saying things like "you're not a real programmer/scripter unless <fill in arbitrary reason here>, " or "Well I did <thing> and that was wayyyy harder than what you did." The only reason that I have found to compare experience in this way is for making efficiency recommendations. If you see someone using Java or C# for implementing neural networks or emulating hardware, it doesn't hurt to recommend that they consider a more efficient language/enviro for those things. We should never discourage new developers by minimizing what they have done so far.

Great video! Worth the button and bell combo for sure! xD

What a truly refreshing post.
I'm afraid a lot of viewers, will not get it.
Facts are facts, just accept it. Directed to the people who insist on making idiotic comments. Now sit down & meditate 🧘‍♀️.
This gentleman is brilliant 😊. I have your 6, now move Team Leader 1. M, out.

I name both as "code writers" since script and programs are codes and syntax.

As a female engineer, I've been unfortunately dragged into these kinds of conversations during job interviews with some companies, and the outcome of the discussion seems to be correlated to skill assessment, hireability, role titles, and ultimately base pay. I know it's all bullsh*t semantics, but the last time I pointed out the "splitting hairs" silliness, I didn't get the offer. Probably didn't want to work with them anyways -- but still a painful experience, nonetheless!
