My 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9 still looks and works as if it’s brand new!! I’ve used it almost every day since 2016. The only thing I have noticed is the battery dies faster but it’s not too bad

I have been using the 12.9 (2017) a long time, and now bought the 12.9/ 2020. While 50g lighter, I find the new iPad with the small bezels more difficult to hold in the hands. The small bezels make for a worse leverage effect. If you don't want to hold it with fingers on the display, you only have a very narrow space to hold it, which is harder. I give the new one back, the speed of the 2017 is fast enough for everything I do.

There was zero mention on pencil performance and feel that’s a major factor for people that use it for drawing

Rewatching these video’s remind me how much I miss the older iPad pro. I know I’m probably in the minority but I prefer the older form factor with slightly larger bezels. Typing this from my 2018 12.9” iPad lol....

The 2017 12.9 is awesome. Runs like butter. The new one breaks so easy...and its not worth all that extra money. I draw and thats what i wanted it for. Love it so much. Dont say the 2017 model is just good for moves and writing... it can do it.all....

The 2017 iPad Pro is a beast. I compared mine to the new one and there is not much difference in speed. I am a heavy user and the 2017 12.9 pro does not disappoint at all. Still runs as good as day 1 smooth as butter.

I prefer the iPad Pro 12.9 1st gen because it has the home / touch ID button and a headphone jack. In terms of performance, I can do more on Android tablets but the iPad is a little more secure so I use the iPad for mobile banking and online purchases. Occasionally I play a game on it. Mainly I have been using it to stream YouTube, Netflix, Hulu and free live cable. It was a gift from my fiancé who bought it at a bargain from a friend. I didn't think I would use it much. But it has been so convenient being able to pull up cable TV streams on it while I'm in the kitchen and it is also great for digital comics. The hardware is great. In some ways better than what I have experienced with Samsung. But I use the Samsung more because I have complete access to the file system and can download anything I want. There are also certain kinds of apps that are great on Android but not so iPad friendly. This iPad Pro is impressive though. Especially considering the fact that it is from 2015. Usually, mobile tech this old starts having preformance issues. Not this one. It flies. My fiancé wants to get me the new iPad Pro that just came out. But that one starts at like $1300 so to me it just doesn't make sense. I'd rather he save the money. I'm mainly just streaming video and reading on this. And it still works. I can't see spending that kind of money just to do the same thing I'm already doing on the old one.

Watching this on my 1st gen iPad Pro 12.9. No need to upgrade.

Got mine day before Thanksgiving, my first Pro, I went from a mini so this 12.9 is fantastic.

People only say its worth the upgrade just because its the "newest" version im stuck on weather to buy the ipad pro 2nd gen second hand or go buy a decent laptop....

The main thing I liked in the new version is that the new apple pencil magnetically attaches to the new model, and charges that way.

I'm using the Original 12.9 inch iPad Pro with A9x. It is still pretty fast in most of the apps. The only app that I feel slow is YouTube, I don't why a video app could need this much of performance.

I love both of the iPad Pro before and now. But since I’m use to the first 12.9 size and it’s larger I’ll stay with it until I decide to upgrade or not. Great video was surely helpful when it comes down to deciding if should keep the old model or upgrade 👍

I feel sorry for those who are going to upgrade their 2017 iPad to 2018 . The performance of both device are almost the same just. And the 2017 model is one the best iPad Pro out there, no bending problem, much more solid3 don't follow the reviewers thought oat of them sell for Apple

When watching videos, do you find holding it to be awkward without the extra bezels? It may just be me, but I’d think I want the bezels to have more of a surface to hold onto instead of worrying about the screen. If that makes sense. Plus, a headphone jack.

ipad pro 2nd gen 12.9 512gb cellular here. just as fast, stronger build quality, will handle anything the new one can with no issues and headphone jack and touch id, best tab made!

I’m using iPad Pro 12.9” gen 2 (2017) and I’m satisfied with it, but the new iPad Pro 2018 series are really monster!!1

I still have an iPad Air 2 that works great but I want a bigger screen. The new one is not worth it. Personally I like the fingerprint reader and the bezels a bit more on last gen. Of course price is a factor too. Can get a refurbished or like new on 2nd gen on eBay 256gb with cellular for around $600. Same storage and cellular on new model is $1299 at Best Buy. Even used or refurbished it’s worth it to get the older model for half the price for not a noticeable difference in every day performance. Like I said my air 2 still works great I just want a bigger screen so I imagine last gen pro is going to be great for many years to come.
